Re: In Fear
I really got on well with this one too. The first 45mins or so were a masterclass in sustaining a high level of tension and dread, as panic and fear began to creep in. Also thought the director knew exactly where to put the camera for the most threatening angle, when to have the couple get out the c...

Good, cheap breakfast
If anyone's stuck for a place to have breakfast tomorrow, try Soho Joe's on Dean St, next to Soho Theatre. In here now, having had a full English and tea for £5. And a free croissant. And it's relaxed so can get some writing done. And no, I don't have shares in it! I know slightly off-topic, so plea...

Re: Missing In Action
Think The Purge was released earlier this year. Not sure about DiT.
The Strange Colour of Your Body's Tears is the one I really hoped for. Amer was my film of FF a few years back. Maybe the all-nighter will have it?

Re: R.I.P.D
Had avoided reviews for that reason. Only knew the basic premise, but yeah, I think the goodwill of the audience contributed a large amount.
Although Jeff Bridges driving with his legs akimbo, one-handed, not looking at the road made me chuckle.

R.I.P.D
So who else was pleasantly surprised by this? A Men in Black / Beetlejuice mash-up to be sure, but I thought it had a breezy charm, nicely pitched lead performances and a running time that didn't outstay its welcome. My girlfriend arched her eyebrows at my enthusiasm and thought it too gossamer thin...

Re: Curse of Chucky
Blast from the past - Curse of Chucky review now live. http://www.electric-shadows.com/curse-of-chucky/ Thought it was surprisingly good after the misstep of Seed of... and actually makes me want to return to the original Child's Play movies. I think one Chucky film every 10 years would be a nice wa...

Dario Argento's Dracula
As Argento's Dracula didn't make it to FF this year either, thought I'd post my review.

It's bad, but I would have loved to see this in Screen 1 with the FF audience...

I'd see all three of those!
Re: Haunter
Loved this one too, reminded me of Ti West's Innkeepers. Shame it'll likely get a cert 15 (I'd imagine) as every 12 year old should watch this instead of Twilight. Only negative really is that the rules of the after life weren't explained so you couldn't actively get involved in the mystery and I'd ...

Re: You're Next
Full You're Next review now up. http://www.electric-shadows.com/youre-next/ Likely to be in my Fest Top 5 - smart take on the slasher film with a nicely chilly atmosphere and good line in black humour. Best bit - the killers taking the time to include the apostrophe when they wrote the film's title ...
V/H/S 2
V/H/S 2 should go down pretty well, although i think the first one still has the edge. Part 2 belongs to Gareth Evans and Timo Tjahjanto's segment Safe Haven. A great scare machine that one.

Agree, good 3/5 star B-movie fun.

Also interviewed Gemma Atkinson and Holly Goss today. Both charming and fun and with good movie taste, at one point conversation got onto The 'burbs!

Re: FrightFest memories
The French lady is great. Didn't she bring a spec script to the Argento Q&A last year?
