Re: The Last Days
It would be interesting to know the extent (if any) to which this movie is an allegorical reflection of the current social, economic and political woes in Spain... Enjoyable overall, although the gradual descent into melodrama wasn't entirely to my taste. Did I recognise the female lead from Sleep T...

Re: The Dead 2: India
And when a brisk stroll is enough to stay ahead of the zombies, it's hardly a threat worth worrying about. The only thing you'd need to do is avoid enclosed places with one entrance/exit point where you can be pinned in. Shame the characters didn't realise that. Also, everyone in this film when run...

Can you review Dark Tourist in the same way? "Fat guy gets bummed"?jonbly wrote:5/10 - ugh. Couldn't get into this one at all. 'Crazy guy falls over' pretty much sums this one up.

So it didn't remind you of Jean Paul Sartre's No Way Out?
Re: R.I.P.D
It's a calculated, borderline cynical attempt to replicate the success of MiB - hell, it's practically a remake. I suspect it's going to die on its arse - objectively, it's an uncomfortable blend of different elements that never quite works to anyone's satisfaction, like a bar of chilli chocolate. A...

Re: Frankenstein's Army
My heart sank at the found-footage beginning but, as the level of silliness increased, I got swept up despite myself. The monsters were excellent, the gore was ludicrous and the joie de vivre (?) was ultimately infectious. Could have been worse, so 7/10

Re: Hammer of the Gods
It took just 20 minutes for me to decide that there was nothing in this movie to detain me. Sadly, I'd underestimated the heavy downpour outside and, having flounced out without my umbrella, I didn't feel able to slink back and retrieve it. Garfunkels was as far as I could make it in the deluge - my...
Re: V/H/S 2
Didn't really float my boat - lots of sound & fury, signifying nothing. The alien abduction sequence left me cold, and I got irritated by blokey's decision to watch a video instead of reacting to his partner's demise - once you start pulling at threads like that, you know that the movie has lost...
