Well blimey, the things you learn when you've been away from the site a few months!
I've booked literally nothing as yet. Let the accommodation search commence....

Re: Loud laughing man in arrow screen
Hehehe, we were sitting directly behind a similar batch of folks in the Film 4 screen... being chums/on first name terms with some of the guys does not mean you can yap through basically everything apart from the main features. I love FrightFest because 99.9% of the attendees respect the Shut...
Re: Air Con
Also, over-zealous "cleaning" in the breaks between films. I lost an almost full bottle of water from the cupholder Yup. I'll agree with that! I mean, a clean screening room is lovely, don't get me wrong. But I also lost a 3/4's full bottle of 2-fucking-pounds-99 water when the cleaning t...

Re: My top and bottom 3
Top: Deathgasm Rabid Dogs Slumlord (basically because of the slumlord, mind you. He kept the film together, because to be fair I pretty much wanted all of the repellant protagonists to die) Bottom: Inner Demon (can I just say this 3 times?) Shut In (it really didn't need the paedogeddon link, and wo...

Re: Inner Demon
It started off ok and the heroine was pretty smart and plucky, but as soon as she got stuck in the (enormous) wardrobe all of that drained down to nothing and I found it increasingly irritating. That reminds me! Earlier than that scene, the bit where she fell into the ditch and was unable to get ou...

Re: Inner Demon
For me, this was absolutely dreadful. The plot clunked along in the first half (despite the attempts to build up tension), character traits were shown and then left undeveloped (I'm thinking here of the abused girlfriend of the awful guy, who appeared cowed by him at one point and who I assumed woul...

Re: Is Frightfest becoming 'trendy'?
 I think it's time the organisers thought of a new name for the festival. People associate it with horror movies but I discovered quite early on that few actual horror movies are shown. Maybe at the end of next year's festival they can promote this. I sort of know what you mean - FrightFes...
Re: Slumlord
6/10 - A tedious examination of a marriage in crisis, only enlivened by the wacky hijinks of their landlord. Wasted potential here for the kind of subtle relationship sabotage that Sleep Tight did much better. The landlord doesn't seem to actually have a plan going in... it's just luck that things ...

Re: Rabid Dogs
Loved this one. Behind Deathgasm, which was so silly and such an obvious fave for quite a few people, this was one of my picks of the weekend. I completely bought into it, even with its flaws (I found the female character and the tag-along gang member pretty irritating to be honest, but went with it...
Re: Air Con
This would be one of my only complaints about the weekend - and I know the guys ended up acknowledging it more than once, and got in an emergency engineer (or rather, got Vue to). By the time Deathgasm came round, which I'd been looking forward to all day, I just wanted to go back to the hotel becau...

Re: Some Kind Of Hate
I'm seeing a lot of comments on facebook really hating on this for glamourising self-harm. There was a question asked about this in the Film4 screening, and the director's comment that they were trying to portray the issue without judging the sufferers seemed fair to me. I was in the Film4 screenin...

Re: Accommodation over the weekend
We're now another pair in Northumberland LSE :) I had booked us into some dive called the Fitzroy, which was due to be a 20 minute walk away at best. They also didn't confirm any sort of response to any of my emails, and if you look them up on Tripadvisor they have some questionable reviews! I mean,...

Re: FrightFest ticketing 2015
The frightfest guys have taken a bit of stick this weekend and to be fair most of it looks undeserved, from what I can tell by reading this thread everyone who wanted a ticket managed to get one I think this is a fair comment. I know people may not have got the seat they really, really wanted, or m...

Re: FrightFest ticketing 2015
Just to add a differing view - our experience was fine this year, but perhaps we aren't as rabid about seats as others. We didn't want an aisle (would've been nice, but to be honest, getting tickets was the priority, not tickets in Row B seats 21/22 etc etc! ), preferred (and got) the Film 4 s...
