Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

Wonder if LA Zombie (banned in Australia) will suffer the same fate here as Serbian - cuts wise!

By the way I noticed that the forthcoming DVD release of Serbian has been put back over here according to PLAY.

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

Yes I agree nothing's changed as far as the BBFC's concerned. A film like Serbian simply never stood a chance of getting through uncut here.

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

The film seems to get shown at film festivals around the world but so far hasn't been picked up for wider distribution outside of the UK (DVD). I can't imagine there being any censorship issues in most of Europe or the US. Might have problems in Australia, New Zealand though, outside festival screen...

Re: BBFC Watch: Upcoming Titles

I seriously didn't think they would pass it completely uncut after it was cut by 13m for the X in 76, rejected in 87 and cut again by 4m in 2002. I hope there are more of these type of films heading their way as I'm curious to see what will happen.

Re: Northern Ireland bans I SPIT ON YOUR GRAVE

It was the cut UK DVD that they banned. Apparently the removal of 3m doesn't go far enough. This appears to have been the 2nd time that they have banned it.

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

[With respect you are missing the point by a country mile. The BBFC ruling re: Serbian Film is not the fundamental issue over the pulling of the film. That was that Westminister Council demanded ASB and I Spit were passed by the BBFC before they allowed them to be shown. Why did Westminster Council...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

But it does seem like the council do not want to give the ok to films that are likely to recieve cuts. I think it is specifically an issue because FrightFest is a horror festival and one that has become a roaring success. I highly doubt that the BFI London Film Festival faces similar scrutiny. The ...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

Good post, Stark. Yes unlike the films that had been previously shown at FrightFest it must have been pretty clear to the council ( as it should be to anyone) that these 2 films Serbian & I Spit were likely to have serious censorship problems with the BBFC and I think that's why they wanted a BB...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

First off: I haven't seen A Serbian Film. The BBFC don't have any such grudge - look at how many they pass, for crying out loud. Hundreds of them. And what are you going to replace them with? That's true, the BBFC no longer cut horror, violence, gore. They do however on rare occasions cut sexual vi...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

We will be looking this week at the logistics of trying to arrange some screenings of the film in an uncut form - hopefully towards the end of September / early October, so watch this space. Sounds good. Also, due to time limits pre-festival, we only had the opportunity to submit the film for DVD c...
