Following Alan's wonderful news about the Millennium films (Larsson is a truly great author) I have recently discovered another great Scandanavian writer- Karin Fossum. If you are into that dark, nordic type of narrative then check out her first novel Don't Look Back.

The Last Horror Movie ( posts reminded me of what an original and scary little film this is)
The Good, the bad and the weird (could have kicked myself for missing this in the cinema last year)
Lone Wolf McQuade (my student film club wanted a Chuck Norris for the end of the year)

Went to see Drag me to Hell last night. Easily Raimi's best film in years (not a fan of Spiderman 2 or 3). Enough gross out moments to appeal to the younger crowd and lots of comic horror to appeal to those (like me) who wanted to see a return to the Evil Dead form. Don't feel quite so disappointed ...

I went to see Martyrs at the ICA on Sunday and two people walked out. The audience seemed pretty stunned by the film and I heard several people complain about the violence. However the ICA did warn people about the content and so the man sat near me who said he did not really like violent films shou...

John Ajvide Lindqvist (the author of Let the Right One In) has a new book coming out in March. It is called'Handling the Dead' and seems to be about zombies. I've already pre-ordered my copy from Amazon as if it is half as good as LTROI it will be better than a lot of horror novels out there. Speak...

Note to Hello Doris.

Regarding my coursework- I will try the old Uni trick of throwing them down the stairs and however hits the bottom first get the A. Then I can happily read my Lindqvist book in the content knowledge I have done my bit for the British education system.

I enjoyed this a lot more than I thought I would. I think the comments about the film 'growing on you' are spot on. I would need to see the film again before I could really decide if I really liked it or not.

I also found this film a little tiresome and by the end somewaht annoying. Too many gaping plot holes that defied logic combined with a pacing that, for me at least, made the film seem overlong. This is the sort of plot that was done a lot better in the seventies/eighties in shows like Thriller and ...
