I quite enjoyed The Transporter and thought Transporter 2 was better, a slicker, more fun sequel... Transporter 3 sadly is garbage, perhaps the worst action film I've seen all year. Which is a shame. It's one saving grace is Jason Statham who is The Stath again and very good at it, but I just felt ...

Unearthed - Disappointing creature feature set in New Mexico. Annoyingly it's shot mostly in complete darkness and the CGI alien runs a bit funny thus negating any "scares". And guess what? On two separate occasions the human protagonists find a getaway vehicle only for it to run out of p...

The Brave One - Or Jodie Foster does Death Wish. Sure it has pretensions to be a more serious commentary on life and the lengths one will go to in order to be "alive". But really it's just JF shooting muggers. Humdrum. Much preferred Kevin Bacon in Death Sentence - at least it was honest ...

Had concerns when I saw Shirley Manson's name in the cast list and was even more worried when she started "acting". Oh well, at least she's not singing !! Season 1 was never great, but always maintained enough momentum to keep you watching and from the looks of the season 2 opener the same...

Mutant Chronicles - Man, if those scenes they make you sit through when you complete a level on Resident Evil were 90 minutes long they'd look like this. And they'd have Sean Pertwee and Devon Aoki in too. Still, there is some cosy familiarity from watching films in which groups of soldiers are blo...

Just seen: Diary of the Dead - Doesn't hit the unnerving notes of the original trilogy but George still manages to weave some timely social commentary in amongst the set-piece kills. Also felt that the humour was maybe overdone, with the result that it diluted the feeling that the characters were in...

Lifeforce is a favourite here too. Things I love about Lifeforce: 1. A British space shuttle called "Churchill" 2. Mathilda May 3. Frank Finlay saying "Here I go" just before he gets vapourised 4. Patrick Stewart's terrible performance. 5. The line "This is a D-Notice situat...

Thought the first half of this was terrific. Visceral and emotional. Our sympathies conflicted with the destruction of the archetypal family unit by someone we see as a victim themselves. Once the film changed tack it kind of left me behind. Surely a martyr has a cause that they and others believe i...

Yep, Total Fury was wicked; Trousers deliciously ripe.

Sure, The Chest wasn't my cup of tea but if you view it as a 5 minute exercise in 'shock' it seems to have done its job pretty well judging from the posts. Not one I'll stick on when the folks are round on Boxing Day though

I really liked the opening titles and music to this......and then things started happening and people started talking and it all went so so wrong.

Forcing a nun to leave her abbey at gunpoint is soooo Bauer.

Much better than I'd feared.
Thought the stunts were great, Jase was his usual fantastic self and it was also pretty funny throughout to boot....but unlike the film that preceded it this was intentional.

Made me chuckle that her dad kept going into the toilets at his embassy. Once he washed his hands and walked out, the second time he got spooked because someone was in one of the cubicles ! Err...what did he expect ? The whole thing didn't make any sense and it all seemed padded out by repeated flas...

The 7-disc, 14-film box set of all the Basil Rathbone's old Sherlock Holmes, remastered, restored, and generally very nicely packaged. Great choice, they're magic. Think my fave is The Scarlet Claw - it's atmospheric and is a decent whodunnit to boot. Rathbone & Bruce were a marvellous partners...

Simon Says - Crispin Glover shames himself in this utterly crud hillbilly horror. Needless to say, I caught it on Zone Horror. Captivity - 90 minutes of meaningless misogyny from Roland Joffe. Basically a series of scenes in which Elisha Cuthbert is woken up, has something unpleasant done to her an...

Galaxy of Terror Bollocks. If bad movies were a race of being intent on taking over the earth then this one would be high up in the leadership ranks with the title Supreme Bollock. Something means some people have to go to some planet. Various things attack them and gorily cause their deaths. Chief...
