Re: Fright Faces!

Yeah that was the 2nd 'faces' thread that was created, i'm talking about the one from about 2 or 3 years ago (where most of the active forum members back then all put their pics up - that was a huge thread!) :-) I think I broke that one back then with my picture, sorry! For the sake of this thread ...

Re: The Rough Guide to FrightFest

Can't complain about the fruit selection at HHH brekky :)

Booked too - actually worked out a few quid cheaper than last year for the same place!

Agreed with the Chrysalis recommendation - also on a sci-fi lilt, would suggest Time Crimes if you've not seen it already?

Thanks for the LVK update!

Am on the US PS3 trail myself, and hoping that the Sony (who don't generally lock) releases of Doghouse and Moon are region free... though considering getting a Blu drive for PC to sidestep the whole thing!

Blu-Ray PiP is still not up to the standard HD-DVD was... ironically, there's now a new title being released exclusive to HD-DVD! See here - http://www.highdefdigest.com/news/show/Anthem_Films/Disc_Announcements/Deadlands_2:_Trapped_on…_HD-DVD!!/3382 Looks like the UK Descent will inherit ...

Solid, but not the bloodiest movie ever (not even the bloodiest of this festival - Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl?), had some good moments and hilariously inept police - something that seems to be a theme this year!

Was a little worried having read the summary that it would follow the Last House on the Left school of nasty rape and beating/killing followed by vengeance, but what this film didn't show of the setup became a great asset throughout. Superbly acted by all, and gripping throughout - was very impressed!

Loved the new print, like Dawn of the Dead and Deep Red I really appreciated the chance to see it on what was for me the first time on a big screen. Beware the Moon is a really good thorough accompanying documentary - and strange thing to notice, but good lord Paul Davis is exceedingly tall! (How gl...

The "original" footage and trailer evoked the time really well and was pretty slickly done, and the babyface design was cool but wasn't keen on the overall film personally. Found the characters all pretty unlikeable and the nudity and particularly rape scene unnecessary - am not a fan of n...

Enjoyed it - yes, some elements had been done before but it was done really well, with some nice twists and a feel of crushing inevitability at times... and looked and sounded brilliant.

And a little less Triangle or even Circle than Big Kind of Ball of Wibbly-wobbly Timey-wimey Stuff ;)

Looked fantastic (and how creepy was that evil guy!) but seemed undermined by a lack of confidence leading to reliance on ideas from other films, which was a shame. (The future of Italian horror is American horror from 20-odd years ago? ;)) Will definitely be interested in future films from the team...

Surprisingly conventional, though well shot so looked good on the big screen. Not a bad film, though personally would have preferred something a bit more bonkers, especially with that kind of length and starting that late!
