Loved the short films, so many styles in so little time, very entertaining. The Papa Wrestling guy needs to do another one asap, some serious talent there.
How I survived... looked stunning.
Appliances was stupid but fun.

Re: How did you find the line-up overall..?
True, but this year they also had what turned out to be two of the most "top-fived" films of the festival - Dream Home and The Loved Ones . True, both of them were awesome but still, there are people like me who, after a whole day of watching serious movies, like to end the day with some ...

Re: Damned By Dawn
This worked really well...until the CGI "ghosts/dead" turned up. A very welcome break from the revenge topic this one had a fresh cast (the little sister was hot), a nice idea (can you think of other movies having banshees in them?) and some really nice makeup. There was an issue with the ...

Re: We Are What We Are
Well, the Let the right one in comparisons probably come from the "caretaker" aspect of the whole thing. Unfortunatly this one was rather boring and never really took off. Let too many things unexplained and, again, the main character's action were just stupid e.g. why bring the dead hooke...
Re: Buried
I loved it. Had me on the edge of my seat the whole time, perfect twist and turns, an astounding main actor. Never would have thought, that 90min of a guy in a box could be that gripping. The end was bleak enough to leave a funny feeling in my stomach, could have done without the last "I'm sorr...

Re: How did you find the line-up overall..?
I think this is more than a little unfair to say that this line-up is better. I didn't say it was better, I said it was more diverse! Some people might be able to sit through 10 and more hours of revenge/torture movies, I just don't want to, I need some stupid, mindless, gory action inbetween. And ...
Re: The Dead
Definately an issue with pacing. It was like the Lord of the Rings take in Clerks 2. Walk a bit, shoot a zombie, drive a bit, shoot a zombie, repeat. You forgot the "talk about your problems" part in between ;) Otherwise I totally agree, good locations (not enough overview shot to give a ...

Re: Red White & Blue
Don't understand all the love for this one. The only reason I didn't walk out was the fact, that I was expecting some serious development and not a plot, that had been laid out within the first 30mins and by reading the description in the brochure. The big "Oh my god, they got married!" tw...

Re: Bedevilled
Soooooo slow at the start. Fortunately emotionally this movie worked quite well for me. The way everyone treated our "heroine" left me was an icky feeling and explained her later actions well enough. It probably helped, that the last 30min weren't tooooooo serious and had some (I'm sure in...

Re: Last Exorcism
This one started off quite well, the preacher character was funny and witty, the documentary style worked well, the set up was believable and fast enough (another slow burner would have killed me at this point). It got better with the preacher explaining his technical set up for the character and th...
Re: Finale
As for all the negativity this one wasn't THAT bad. Yes, the story was a mess, yes, some of the actors and dialogs where laughable but the whole atmosphere worked quite well for me. I liked how they mixed old school filmmaking, camera angles and colors (Argento or not I don't really care) with sort ...

Re: The Clinic
Mixing motherly love with a SAW like setup (not the torture of course) this one was okay. Why I don't believe that things would work out just as they did in the movie, the idea was fine enough, the set was nice and the actors not bad. Only problem: It is just amazing what you can do with a fresh cae...

Re: Burning Bright
When I read about the plot on IMDB I decided to watch it just because of the utter hilarity it promised. I was quite surprised though, to see a well done thriller! Yes, there were logical faults in the story, mainly of why a bar like this would be busy like that at 5 in the morning and problems with...

Re: Christopher Roth
Set up was good and believable, actors were ok although I felt that the heavenly accentuated dialog took away much of the feeling of the movie. The boar killer was an interesting concept, the killings (even if in "daydreams") well enough executed. Unfortunatly it went downhill form there, ...

Re: How did you find the line-up overall..?
@maxmum: get out of my head! @ all others: I'm glad I'm not the only one feeling this way. It was my second year at FF, flying over from Austria specifically to attend. Last year was an absolute blast, especially as I liked how diverse the selection was - something I was REALLY missing this year. It...
