I love CHOCOLATE!!! :D Totally bonkers but bl**dy hell she can fight ! Saw Avatar last night. Oh my God, surely Cameron can't steal another Best Picture Oscar on the basis of very expensive FX? Looks amazing of course, but the story feels straight out of a Disney cartoon and the dialogue "to tr...

Re: films we just saw

Two "zombie" films of the last year: Doghouse and Pontypool Doghouse - meh ! No better or worse than LVK and suffers from all of the same problems. Random plotting, idea shortage and just neither funny enough or gory enough to satisfy mainstream or horror fans. Pontypool - Neat, atmospheri...

Daybreakers - Thought it started with a bit of wit and imagination but soon ran out of steam and went back to run-of-the-mill vampire movie standbys. Even a bit of late gore and Blade style pyrotechnics couldn't save it.

The Breed - Always a bad sign when the credits start and you see that the film is part funded by a tourist board; in this case South African. Well, I hope Michelle Rodriguez got a lovely holiday in Jo'burg out of it because this trashy 'killer dog' tripe did nothing for her floundering career. Kids...

2012 - Once that first really exciting 'chase' sequence through LA is over, it just kind of repeats the cycle until all of the filler characters have been bumped off. Would never watch it again, but kind of fun I guess. The Horror of Frankenstein - 1970 Hammer with Ralph Bates playing kind of a fra...

Encounters at the End of the World - Werner Herzog's documentary of life in Antarctica brings together the eccentric characters who choose to live in such remoteness whilst pondering such questions as "Why don't monkeys ride goats?" and "Do penguins go insane?". Werner is a mast...

And the prize for most pointless and fake awards ceremony goes to.... Yeah, this was so so awful. First award was for "Most Anticipated Fantasy Film" (!!) Eh?? Now films get prizes just because the audience are hoping that they're good ??! The whole thing was just a marketing exercise pure...

Wishmaster 2 - I remember watching the first one years ago and quite enjoying it. Sadly, I can't say the same for the second. Awful f/x and a really really terrible performance from Andrew Divoff. I think there were another couple made after this. My wish is never to have to sit through them ! Rogu...

Anyone else still watching this? After a bit of a lull in which it had more in common with Melrose Place than Friday 13th it's really picked up. Last few episodes have been pretty exciting. Really looking forward to the last 2.

Saw Beyond the Valley of the Dolls at BFI Southbank. One of my fave films, so it was great to see it on the big(ish) screen.

Friday the 13th (remake) - very bland.

Fun production-line sequel. Think along the lines of the recent "Hills Have Eyes 2". Not quite sure what was going on with that ending though....
