I was a bit concerned until reading these forums that i was the only one who liked this! Thought it was a tidy little movie, genuinely tense, well acted revenge-of-nature stuff. Some real good scares and a nice downbeat ending...and, for the record i liked both Adrift and Open Water too!

This may just be me but you'd need to pay me at least £45 to get me to sit through the whole of HEROES again....

Um, Madonna / whore fantasy?! I must have seen a different, terrifying masterpiece called BLUE VELVET, then...

I have both HUMANOIDS FROM THE DEEP and BLOOD BEACH to watch having just got them from Zero Day DVD. I have fond memories of both!

I watched the whole of WRESTLEMANIAC and it's actually Not another wink wink post-modern type slasher - it's played straight, but just happens to have some fairly funny (and well played) characters. See it as a kind of direct to DVD extension of SEE NO EVIL, with some genuine suspense, effectively b...

Too much screaming and naked flesh in a splatter movie...isnt that a bit like having too much singing in a musical?! On a slightly more serious note, i appreciate your point about two-dimensional female characters but it seems unfair given that a) the focus was split between the soon-to-be-victims a...

I am unconvinced (but unsurprised) by the charge of misogyny levelled at HOSTEL PART II...An equal amount of torture and sadism was perpetrated on MALE victims in the original and in PART II one female character is graphically killed on screen while the most horrifying demise is reserved for a repel...

Its been interesting seeing CAPTIVITY and HOSTEL PART II within days of each other - movies on WAY opposite ends of the quality spectrum in the extreme horror stakes (lets ditch the "torture porn" tag- its a term that should only be used by the scuzzy "ban this filth" tabloids ju...

Finally caught up with the third PIRATES. I quite liked the original and thought the second installment was more fun than most reviewers suggested...but this was one of the dullest blockbusters i have seen in a long time. Loved the surrealistic bits with Captain Jack and the crabs/alternate Jacks......

I dont think there's a convincing case for CANDYMAN being racist at all : one of the annoying things about some of the criticism of the film at the time was the inevitable "racism" backlash - a boring inevitability of any horror movie brave enough to feature a black "villain" or ...

Great story, streetrw, about the screening of CANDYMAN. Although i will do most things for £50, you wouldn't have got me on that stage after seeing that movie for the first time. I remember watching it on video aged about 14 and being totally freaked out around mirrors for days after...Having watche...

Huzzah! I knew someone else out there would like it as much as me! I too thought it genuinely frightening throughout - it's quite an achievement for a sequel to make its central threat so alarming, and this had a sustained intensity i've not seen in a genre film so far this year. Use of music exemp...

Am clearly in the minority here (sniff!) but i couldnt give a toss about geographical accuracy, Wembley Stadium, et al.....i just thought that 28 WEEKS LATER was a splendid sequel. I liked the original but thought some of it ponderous, the ending a real let down and felt there was a lack of real sc...

Delivering on its premise of being ZOMBIES ON A PLANE, this was good, old-school fun. I liked that, instead of playing it self-consciously for laughs and nudge-nudge fanboy gags they played it straight and let the humour come from the absurdity of the escalating crises. There were good shocks, a hi...

Agree with the above. THE MESSENGERS was feeble, unambitious PG-13 dreck, with clear signs of post-production tampering and absolutely no trace of the Pang Brothers' usual style. Why bother bringing over talents from the Asian genre scene if you're going to style the movie as a bland mainstream spoo...
