Re: Bottom Five Films

For me; 1) In Fear - I know there's a lot of love for it. But not from me! Repetitive, unoriginal, and just plain daft, and the "improv" style of keeping actors in the dark and throwing them into unknown situations just doesn't work in modern movies IMHO. "Blair Witch" was the on...

Re: Stalled

Totally agree. Everybody I spoke to who saw it, put it in their personal top 5 films and loved it! It was one of my favourite films of the weekend. So it seems a bit strange that it's so far down in the (best film) poll and has had so few comments about it so far... :s I guess that's the discovery s...

Re: Missing In Action

Unlikely I know, but I would have preferred to see something like the "Carrie" remake, or even "Riddick" in the "RIPD" slot (even though I stuck up for "RIPD", prior to all the guffawing and Box Office from America. Damn it all! It still might be a guilty plea...

Re: FrightFest memories

Relating to FD5, I remember that little ripple of applause and cheer from the back of the audience, that gradually spread to the front, even before I even twigged the brilliant twist! Marvellous stuff. You don't get THAT in the multiplexes! I've been going since 2001 (albeit missing 2002), so this w...

Re: 5 most anticapated films?

In reverse order... 5) "Wither" - Because it looks to be a balls-out "Evil Dead" homage, and I liked Sonny Laguna's "Blood runs cold" 4) "V/H/S 2" - I know a lot of people have already seen it, but I'm saving myself for Frightfest and I dug the original movie....

I use transcendental meditation.

(NB: That's why I usually try to get an aisle seat. Absolute bliss to stretch a leg or two during the long sessions. Although I think I tripped up Paul or Ian during one year...)

Re: Child's Play Trilogy Screening before Curse of Chucky

I spent last week watching all 5 movies, one a day. I'd only ever seen Bride and Seed before so it was great to see the original trilogy for the first time. Going against the reviews, I though the 3rd was actually the best of the bunch as the story was the most interesting of the lot of them (altho...

Re: Saturday in main screen. Thoughts?

F) Probably the only chance to see it in 3D (yeah, I know that's going to turn away many people. But I still live in hope of another Final Dest 5!!) on such a big screen. RIPD is a post-conversion, unlike FD5, which was shot in 3D (that's why it looked so awesome!). It won't look anywhere near as g...

Must admit. As much as I rated the first film and Sarah Butler's performance, I have no urge to see this at all.
It was an easy choice between this and "Wither" TBH.

Re: Saturday in main screen. Thoughts?

I tend to ignore "popular" opinion and mainstream critics (and some of the more rabid genre ones as well...), even though I write a few reviews myself. Will still be seeing "RIPD" as; A) I'm incredibly lazy and will always plonk my fat ass in the main screen unless I'm rampant to...

Re: You're Next screening free 2 days prior to FF? :(

To be honest, I haven't bothered with any of the advance screening offers or anything (and there has been quite a few flying around ... I think the studio just wants a LOT of advance word-of-mouth). I really want to see it for the first time with the Frightfest crowd. I mean, audience reactions to d...

Re: My Annual Mistake!

Best decision I ever made was to see "Burning Bright" instead of the trippy "Eggshells". Great way to start the day, and was very smug about it to my neighbours. Can't help feeling all my disco choices this year are in peril as so many have sold out already... I'll be queuing for...

Re: Where Is Everyone Sitting?

Lou Roll - Are we talking hard mint based confectionary like a Polo, or Murray Mints? Is it gum orientated snack like a fruit pastille? Or are we talking chocolate covered variety sweets like Heroes, Roses, or Celebrations? I think this should be clarified before we make arrangements... BTW: If anyb...
