Re: Tobe Hooper and the chainsaw massacre
Eggshells, the very definition of an "interesting" film, ie 80% boring, 20% mad. Glad I saw it but the Total Film guy did it no favors by ridiculously overselling it. TCM - not just one of the best horror films, one of the best films. Interview - I thought maybe Hooper was just jetlagged, ...
Re: Dead Cert
Utter garbage from beginning to end. Appeared to have been written by someone who had no knowledge of the vampire genre, hate films where vamps walk around in sunlight and no one thinks this at least deserves an explanation, and what was the thing with the dogs about? Dozed off at the very end and w...
Re: The Dead
I'm a bit non-plussed by the very positive reactions to this one, as apart from a West African setting it seemed like a run-of-the-mill zombie movie to me. The film suffered from pacing issues (another trip to the edit suite would sort this out) and an uncharismatic lead. Also the radio message was ...
Re: Wound
It wasn't very good, sub-Lynchian nonsense. Matters weren't helped by the director's obvious belief he has made a masterpiece. I tried to compliment him afterwords on his film Death Warmed Up which made a big impression on me when I was a teenager, basically got told that it was okay but he was maki...

Re: Thank You!
Thanks to the organisers, the incredibly polite Empire staff, and the audiences who came and treated the films and the guests with curtesy and respect (including the chap from the BBFC, it showed credit to horror fans that we was greeted with no catcalls or boos). I'd like to especially thank Prof. ...

Re: How did you find the line-up overall..?
I thought this was one of the strongest FrightFest's I've attended (started coming in 2008). However the very best films on offer were on the fringes of the horror genre (and in the case of Red Hill solidly out of the genre). But the selection represents what is available at any time, and also there...

Mobile Phones why cant people do with out them?
Bollox to tolerating mobiles, people are repeatedly asked to turn them off by the organisers, anyone ignoring that is an ignorant arse. End. Of. Discussion.

Re: Bedevilled
My favorite film of the fest.
I actually burst into tears at the end, and not lump in throat wet eye tears, oh no, this was a full on emotional meltdown.

Re: Outcast
What a lovely unassuming film this was. Cracking performances by all (even the Rab C Nesbitt-a-likes and definitely James Nesbitt) but especially the two central characters. Only narrowly pipped by tonight's Monsters for fave so far (in a very strong field) but considering the budgets etc, Outcast ...

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up
I can smell a Voor at from months away. I genuinely don't care to get into a flameware with you, but what the hell is that supposed to mean? It seems you are insinuating that some of the current controversies over the pulling of ASB have something to do with another member of this forum with whom y...

Re: Piranha 3D (yay it's an 18 cert)
The fact 3D TV uses active shutter glasses as opposed to the passive cinema ones means the effect is pretty impressive. I dunno, I checked out this in Westfield at the weekend, and it just looked like gazing into an old Viewmaster to me. An minor illusion of depth with various flat planes stacked o...

Re: Anyone here watching Scream Queens Season 2?
I am now completely hooked on this, and I hate reality TV (Rockstar Supernova being one of the few i've previously got sucked into). Honestly I recommend it, episode 3's maggot challenge was laugh out loud funny. Why I love it: 1. The prize is terrible, a walk on part in a Saw movie. Not a glitterin...

Re: Films everyone loves... except you!
Kick Ass. Rudderless, under produced, misconceived, only a ball hair above Superhero movie. In fact not that good. I like the cut of your gibb Dave, I though it was rubbish, badly made, poor action scenes with terrible CG, and ultimately turned into just another superhero film. Honestly for all tha...
