Re: [REC.2]
Snap, One I did like though was Last House of the Left. Thought they did a brilliant job on the re-make. Oh and Wolfman of course, but anything from Del Toro is pretty much great. -M Really? Do you not think the entire thing sanitised the LHOTL experience? I'm not the world's biggest fan of the ori...
Re: [REC.2]
Not sure the title is actually inaccurate, but happy to be corrected.
If they genuinely go for a closer interpretation of the novel then fair enough. I just suspect it'll be awful, on the grounds that most covers, though not all, are.

Re: films we just saw
Do you mean The Loved Ones? If so, it's not so much in a different league as it is an entirely different ball game. An excellent film.

Re: A LIZARD IN A WOMAN'S SKIN
As is the quacking serial killer in NYR.
I really enjoyed seeing Lizard's Skin on the big screen, but it isn't one of the very best. I'd certainly have preferred duckling or plummage. Re retro screening, I'd love to see someone restore In a Glass Cage or Who Can Kill a Child?

Re: what dvds are we buying?
I have to admit I was slightly apprehensive about it, but the time flies by. Sono has finally got a film absolutely right - so many nods to his earlier films, but this one really does deliver on all levels. The Corinthians reading, despite the odd subtitles, is one of the most moving scenes I've see...

Re: what dvds are we buying?
Love Exposure - best film I've seen in 12 months.
Re: AMER
Tried it with Drowning by Numbers in my youth. Don't recommend it. Particularly not the ice lolly scene. :?
Glad someone else liked Genesis. Bonafide masterpiece for me.

Just so long as it wasn't weed they were on. They'd be clawing at the screen with the munchies...
Re: AMER
Interesting Aftermath came up in this thread, I was thinking of it when I was watching Amer. Whilst Aftermath hugely impressed me, I actually enjoyed Genesis, in a multiple viewing sense, far more. Hopefully Amer is the showstopping first event and will allow the creators the time to pull together a...

Re: HARPOON: REYKJAVIK WHALE WATCHING MASSACRE
I'd only read one review prior to seeing this and have to admit i was expecting the worst. What I actually received was, oddly enough, a genuinely pleasant surprise. A thousand faults, but if taken as a pure expliotation film I thought it was marvellous. Plot holes wide enough to ship a tanker throu...
Re: AMER
I can see what Voor is saying re the film representing the purest form of giallo, but I can't say I entirely agree and after chatting with the directors/producer after the film, I felt they tentatively took my point. I'll state now, I love the genre, but this was not a giallo, it was an arthouse fil...

Re: GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
Arriving on thursday afternoon and suspect I'll be heading straight to Lebowski's for a White Russian or two. Mrs Marlin gets in a few hours later. First trip north of the border in ten years but I always liked Glasgow. Given the line up of films and the potential for extremely drunken misbehaviour ...

Re: Edinburgh Extreme Cinema Season
Holy shit. For a minute there I thought they were all playing back to back. That would have beaten even Grim Sunday for a laugh-a-minute cinematic endurance test. That’s…that’s some powerful selection, nicely off the beaten track, too, nothing that obvious (I’m looking at you, Audition !) and hopef...

Re: Best 10 Movies 2009
Best films I've seen this year...some are older but none of the older ones are widely available yet... 10. Zombieland - Sorry, but I loved this. It's all about the little things. Including Bill Murray! 9. Header - Ed Lee finally makes it to film and after eternal festival showings, rocks up on R1 co...

Doubt they'll serve it at 5pm though Pete.PeterPan wrote:I booked the Charring Cross Guest House I got 3 nights with en suite for £79 on the recommendation of Mr Duncan. Should be a couple of us there and brekkie is included.
And I am NOT Mr Pumpkin, Pumpkin.
