Re: Detention

Too fast, to jumbled, too many references that where lost due to hyperspeed, too confusing, not scary at all, next time ditch stuff like that and give us our gory asian stuff back, please.

Re: The Divide

Again, pleasently surprised, missed the first 5min which was a shame but enjoyed the rest. Just disappointed, that the dropped that whole outside/soldiers/children thing so quickly, that could have been fleshed out a little more.

Re: Trailer Trash!

Soul Soldier...yes, please, anyone, explain to me why everyone thought that was funny and laughed their asses off? Is this some kind of cult movie in the UK?

Re: Kill List

Huge disappointment with all the hype going on around it. Unfortunatly many of the jokes where lost on us due to all the mumbling, the soundtrack and the hard to understand accent (we are not british). While the first 1/3 of the movie worked well enough it just went downhill from there and got absol...

Re: Sennentuntschi

Pleasently surprised by this one. Could need a little faster pacing by taking off 5-10minutes but the twists and style and acting was all nice and well received. One question I have:

Re: Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark

Didn't like it that much, perhaps because of going in with the wrong expectations but my main points are: *) It was not creepy *) The leg breaking/gore felt out of place and tacked on where used *) The main actors performances were lame, that teary eyed Koi fountain scene, get out *) The CGI creatur...

Re: Breaks

We managed well this year, were able to grab lunch/late lunch every single day without missing any movie (ok, we were 5min late for The Divide).

Re: The Innkeepers

It's strange, although I loved Ti West's previous films this one didn't quite work for me. The first half of the film felt a little "lightweight" to me - even when the tension was building I never felt like anything scary was going to happen. This is exactly why I liked it. House of the D...

Re: A Night In The Woods

What a turd of a movie. When the director said that there was no script, no rehearsals or anything I said: Yeah, would have helped if you hadn't skipped on this. Also the plot holes in this were huge enough to fly a 777 through them.

Re: Fright Night - 3D

The 3D was utterly pointless but the movie itself quite entertaining, popcorn and beer for anyone and you are good to go. Much needed respite between all the ultra violent and/or ultra drama and/or suspense/thriller stuff.

Re: A Lonely Place to Die

Liked it, good visual style, not boring, good actors some good moments. About that "genre" thing. Frightfest (unfortunately for me) has been moving away from the classical Horror thing into that whole hipsterisch "A gripping thriller can be Horror too!" thing, combined with (agai...

Re: Bad Behaviour

I appreciate that some (maybe most?) people had DVDs in their bags, but all I had was a copy of the (free) programme, a little booklet about the Scala and some promo cards (which are not goodies, they're trying to get me to buy stuff). The only "goody" was the bag itself. We had the same ...

Re: Kidnapped

Loved it, my highlight of the festival. While the story was "ok" the visual style was just captivating. Too bad this was only shown on Discovery Screen while turds like A Night in the Woods where on the Big Screen.

At http://slashfilmfestival.com/ in Vienna, Austria. A new (first time) but promising festival done by a young and motivated crew (no, I'm not one of them).

Re: A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

I saw A Serbian Film yesterday and I have to say I'm very, very happy we got to see Buried instead! Aside from all the violence, that is not serving any purpose whatsoever, ASF just felt pretentious and drawn out, drifting into absurd terrain more often than not. Also, after seeing it, I don't buy i...
