Ticket secured!! As tense as always, but luck must have been on my side. First full weekend for a few years. Really excited!

Re: Quality of films this year

I agree with plenty that has been said on here. You certainly do forget the unforgettable ones as each year rolls by and if you looked into it, you'd find that each year has always had some absolute stinkers. Step forward Zombie Women of Satan, Outcast and Tulpa for example. For me, what doesn't hel...

Attack of the Lederhosen Zombies

I thoroughly enjoyed this one. It did exactly what I expected it to. It was funny, gross, had inventive kills, never took itself too seriously, and the main heroine had a look of Hayley Atwell, which can never be a bad thing. Okay, so Oscar will never come knocking, but sometimes you just need a mov...

The Creature Below

I for the most part enjoyed this, although I was a bit miffed that I'd been slightly misled by the poster in true 80's video nasties style!

A fantastic achievement when you consider the budget, but it did drag a bit towards the end.

Re: Cell

Such a promising, fun start, then soooooooo dull for the majority of the rest of it.

Capped off with that bizarre Brookside ending.

Re: Beyond the Gates

It was great fun, made even more amusing by a 50 something guy sitting next to me,who almond st jumped out of his seat numerous times, and squirmed, protested and hid behind his fingers at any of the gore!

It was the last film I saw at the festival this year, and was ideal for my closing night.

Re: Vue West 12 vs Vue West End

Another sceptic here, who was turned around. I opted for 2 and a half days, mainly because of the venue, but like was said above, legroom was brilliant, the variety of grub accessible much easier, the large screens and didn't have to fight through millions of people just to get to and from the tube ...

Unlikely however that the correct soundtrack would've made it any more interesting!

Short Film Showcase One

Consisted of seven shorts, of which three were not really horror and belonged, I thought at a different festival. There was however, 'Blight', which was a great, creepy, atmospheric film with some tasty practical effects. I just wished it was longer. Also 'The Stylist' - This would make an awesome f...

I was really disappointed by this one. Everything had been done to make this like a real 70s Giallo. Costume, set design, film stock etc. All were top notch. Unfortunately I found it really dull. It dragged along, only becoming interesting with some of the kills.

My favourite of the films I saw over my two and a half days at the festival.

Strong performances. Grisly in the right places. A thoroughly entertaining watch. The least known about it going in, the better.

Really enjoyed this one. The first movie I saw at the festival this year that gave me a big grin. Plenty of lovely gore.

Re: My Father Die

Wasn't really my cup of tea, however it did stay with me for some time afterwards.
It was certainly very well made and watching the movie that followed, made you realise how good it really was!
