Re: Haunter
I liked it very much, it was one of my favourites of the weekend. I think it's smart to not explain everything straight off, given that most of the characters are in that situation. I lost track of events a few times, but managed to more or less put it all together. Good stuff.

Re: Missionary
No classic, but I enjoyed it enough while it was on.

Re: You're Next
Enjoyed it. Surprised slightly just how bloodily violent it is. (In a good way, of course.)

Re: Best Film From the Disco?
Abstaining as I only saw three Disco films, and none of those three were that great.

Re: Frankenstein's Army
Agreed on the FF thing: having got the sets and costumes and swastika-branded monsters, why YET AGAIN make a film that looks so terrible, and the very technique of its alleged existence makes no sense at all. Did the Russians really have 16:9 widescreen HD stereo cameras in 1944? If this was suppose...

I'm glad I got a decent version of Pieces: it'll look better than the cheapie issue I have at the moment. I Spit On Your Grave, on the other hand....

Re: The Dyatlov Pass Incident
This would have been a perfectly decent horror movie if they'd let Renny Harlin direct it as Renny Harlin, rather than a film student who's got about as much chance of being a proper film maker as I have of being in The Expendables 3. Harlin made Cliffhanger, Die Hard 2, Elm Street 4 and Cutthroat I...
Re: R.I.P.D
Yes, it's Men In Black meets Ghost, but it's a lot of fun and I laughed numerous times. Not everything needs to be grim and bleak and nihilstic! Again, could have done without the unnecessary 3D conversion.

Re: Curse of Chucky
Good fun. Chucky isn't scary, though (you want a scary doll? Go see The Conjuring!), and the film isn't scary. But it's an efficient no-think horror entertainment, probably the best in the series after the first film.

Re: The Banshee Chapter 3D
I almost walked during the terrible first 15-20 minutes. I'm glad I didn't because once it cut back on the damnable found footage schtick (I'm not a fan) and focused on teh girlfriend's investigation it was actually a good little thriller. The problem was the 3D which didn't belong and didn't achiev...

Bearing in mind that the all-nighter isn't affected by the Empire changes.... I'd imagine that the problem with having two screens showing the same things is that you need two prints of everything, whether it's shorts, idents, quizzes or odd surprises? I'm not a projectionist and I don't know the in...

Re: Allocating Discovery Screen Tickets
I too arrived early - about 9.15 - on both days I was after Disco screens, and by the time I got to the desk there were still plenty left for all the films (on the second day one film, Contracted, did run out of tickets while I was in the queue, though I wasn't queueing for that film.) Despite the l...

Lower Regent Street - turn right out of the Empire. There's actually a Spar that's slightly closer, in the Haymarket.

Re: Missing In Action
Easy: THE STRANGE COLOUR OF YOUR BODY'S TEARS. I rewatched AMER last night on Blu and while my main problem with it - that I'd have liked more in the way of a tightly constructed narrative in the manner of the best gialli - doesn't dispel on a second viewing, it is still absolutely beautiful to look...
