I thought this was an unnecessary remake with no reason for 3D whatsoever. I took the glasses off just so I could see the darker stuff.

Re: Panic Button
I returned my ticket to My Sucky Teen Romance after hearing that this was a 'pick of the fest' by credible sources. I thought it was abysmal, despite the actors trying their best. Very disappointing.

Atrocious
If you liked the inane, tiresome woodland rambling parts of The Blair Witch Project, the still images of Paranormal Activity and the crap, incoherent bits of The Silent House, then you'll still find this film tedious and unwatchable. Also had a terrible screechy soundtrack. I hope this is the worst ...

Re: Troll Hunter
Troll Hunter was a cracking way to start day 3 with some great characters, tasty folklore and excellent monster design keeping it fresh and interesting. I'm glad that a few of the Billy Goats Gruff survived. TROLLLL!

Re: Don't Be Afraid Of The Dark
This had a nice fairy tale vibe to it that allowed the film to draw out connotations from the spooky recesses of childhood myth and lore as well as evade any sort of responsibility when coming up with any kind of sniff of coherence or resolution. To be honest, I wouldn't bother looking down a hole t...

Re: Final Destination 5 - 3D
I've always been a fan of the Final Destination movies - for me they are the perfect vacuous movie night treats. I think the filmmakers have done the right thing in turning the series towards comedy and self-parody with 5, both in the casting and obvious self-reflexivity of the "plot". I a...

Re: films we just saw
The Silent House (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1646973/) is a spooky little film - shot, handheld, in one take - about a couple of back-packers taking a nap in an abandoned home. There's nothing innovative in the story, but the trick works, and there's bound to be plenty of copycats - including a for...

Re: films we just saw
Watched Ti West's The Roost (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt0387549/) today. It's an admirable attempt at a pastiche of the midnight movie, but he has obviously come a long way since his first feature. It failed to hold my attention, despite it's brief 70-odd minute duration. 2*/5 . I'm looking forward...

Re: Horror Films 2011
Hopefully most of those will fall by the wayside. Is that a remake of Blair Witch? Genuinely? Mass Effect will only be worthwhile if the Sheppard looks like my character creation lol.

Re: YOUR FRIGHTFEST TOP FIVE FILMS 2010.
Monsters and We Are What We Are were the best two, I thought. Red, White & Blue, The Pack and Fanboys would probably complete the five.

Re: films we just saw
No surprises with Piranha 3-D, including the fact that 3-D remains a complete waste of time and money even in terms of enhancing the sorts of theme-park visceral responses the film was hoping to spark. It's like watching a movie through a dirty, grease-smeared glass jar tied to a desk fan, with the ...

Re: films we just saw
Although I thought it portrayed the relationship between an unfortunate, misguided madman and those responsible for his welfare in an interesting and balanced light, Bronson was a bit of a stretch for me. It did a creditable job - balancing fantasy, glamour and grim reality, but it just seemed to dr...

Re: films we just saw
I'm a pretty consistent Travolta apologist, finding value in his performances in Wild Hogs, The Taking of Pelham 123, and of course Swordfish. From Paris with Love is such a retrograde, nasty, socially irresponsible action movie however, that his decision to take part in such a stupid, xenophobic fi...

Re: films we just saw
Just watched Female Prisoner #701: Scorpion which I thought was excellent. Fantastic cinematography throughout, backed up with an excellent angular soundtrack and some top-quality late-70s subtitling ;). The production values far exceeded my expectations for an early seventies women-in-prison movie,...
