I dont think the BBFC will have problems with this, to be honest. The actress and any body doubles used would obviously be over 18, none of the nudity or the violence perpetrated on her was exploitative. I dont really see how they can cut "suggestiveness" from a film, and the harshest stu...

I also can think of no convincing reason why a movie like this SHOULDN'T deal with the subject matter it had. Some horror films should be entertaining and "fun" but the genre has always (thankfully) included movies that are decidedly not-fun and powerfully disturbing. I personally am draw...

The fact that i didnt find this massively hard has forced me to take a good, long look at myself and realise what a worrying horror geek i am. Sigh!

I bought GIRL NEXT DOOR paperback and it only cost £5.50. Generally though you can get most Ketchum p/b books from amazon sellers for less than a couple of quid plus postage.

Wasnt moved and found the characters uninvolving, in fact the movie as a whole slightly bored me...so i was surprised by the largely positive response it got. Still, it had the best naked-guy-tied-to-a-chair-and-tortured-by-Selma-Blair scene of the weekend

Quasi-paedophillic Larry Clark sleaziness?! Um, i didnt get that at all from this movie. I cant say i felt that the very brief and partly obscured nude shot was exploitative, nor do i doubt the honorable intentions of the filmmakers. But then this one was always going to provoke passionate response...

Yep, that blow torch moment is one of the scenes that will stay with me for a very long time. Great example of how powerful suggested violence can be. (Not that they could have ever staged such a scene explicitly and still get the film shown anywhere!!!)

Glad to see this getting such a overwhelmingly positive response. It deserves it. Beautiful storytelling, exceptional performances, gorgeous music score, great cinematography...and some of the best scares and jolts i've seen in a movie for a long time. There have been a lot of noteworthy Spanish ge...

With the possible exception of THE ORPHANAGE, this was my favourite movie of this year's fest. Horror movies SHOULD scar and should be uncomfortable to watch. Not all horror movies, of course, because then where would the fun be? But i've always been most impressed by horror movies that make me rele...

Then there was Little Brats. If it hadn't been so short I'd have walked out. Offensive crap. Why do something like that and try and play it for laughs? Though at least the killer died, so there was some sort of redemption. I thought this was a delightful few minutes, absolutely hilarious stuff.

Really liked this a lot, an intelligent and subtle take on the "evil kid" genre. Richard Donner once said that he always conceived THE OMEN with the possibility that Damien might not actually be evil, that all the deaths were a mere coincidence that fed into the paranoia of the leading ch...

Mainstream never has to automatically mean crud...and this was first-rate stuff, the best REAR WINDOW reworking i've seen since John Carpenter's SOMEONE'S WATCHING ME. The basic set up is hard to beat for suspense, and was well used here, with some witty details (loved the heroine's ring tone!), a ...

Other Stephen King movies (eg The Green Mile) have been more successful at the box office, this was just the highest grossing Stephen King HORROR movie....and i thought it was first-rate, totally carried by an absolute tour de force from Mr Cusack but full of good scares and atmospheric moments. Th...

This was an ace little movie. And Stephen King's CELL (which itself is desperately derivative of lots of earlier movies and novels, including King's own stuff!) actually came out while this movie was in post production...personally i think THE SIGNAL did a better job of a similar premise.
