Re: From a House on Willow Street
Boring repetitive tripe. I'm sure they used the same effects shots more than once just to pad out the running time. The cast and crew got on my nerves in the Q&A too. Oh, we thought it would be original to combine a crime drama (with no plot) with a horror movie (with no plot).... And they' shou...
Re: Mercy
Re-telling a story from two different perspectives when it wasn't very interesting in the first place was a big problem here. And then once the twist is revealed... ...we have a group of apparently sincere Church members who are so desperate to save a woman's life that they're prepared to murder six...

Re: Ticket Sales
Looks like some seats are now available again, in all three screens.
I still don't understand how the system handles day passes vs. weekend passes.

Re: Ticket Sales
If all three screens really have sold out that quickly, I guess we need more screens next year.... I'm a bit confused by the system with the day pass/weekend pass thing. If someone buys a day pass for, say, Friday, doesn't that mean that seat will then show as "gone" on the booking system,...

Re: Ticket Sales
In a way, that was the easiest - or at least quickest - booking process yet. But also the most stressful. The tickets vanished so bloody fast, they were disappearing out of my basket in front of my eyes. At one point I had two passes but it was only showing the price for one, so that was no good, th...

Re: I Spit on Your Grave III: Vengeance is Mine
I'm always a little uncomfortable about rape-revenge movies, it's a tricky subject to turn into crowd-pleasing entertainment.... but then you can skirt round some of the debatable aspects by just making the protagonist batshit crazy. Ignoring all that stuff, it worked well enough and was certainly a...

Re: Belly of the Bulldog
It was apparent that the threat posed by the "monsters" wasn't real so it seemed clear that what we were seeing wasn't the whole story. As the Q&A revealed, I'm sure the director and writer(s) had it all carefully planned out so the orange powder/drug, the boxes of files etc made perfe...

Re: Halloween All-Dayer
Although I'm more than capable of falling asleep during the daytime - and indeed did so during two of the films - it certainly felt quite different from the all-nighters. It made a change not to spend the early hours in a semi-hallucinatory state before staggering out into an early-morning world clo...

Re: Trapfest 2015
Also every other film had they grey/silver duct tape... must be in easy supply these days. And they all seemed to find it incredibly easy to tear that tape, which is a long way from the truth. It was on offer at Aldi recently, maybe they got a job lot. I always tear duct tape, it's designed to be t...

Maybe there's a trend towards films shot in enclosed spaces, with lots of closeups, so they look good on i...

Re: Tales Of Halloween
Another vote for this over A Christmas Horror Story.
The first few stories were a bit repetitive - some trick-or-treating then somebody dies - but it got much better as it went along. Quite a good choice for closing film, I thought.

Re: Slumlord
Just from looking at the poster of the bloke's face I wasn't looking forward to this, but it wasn't bad although I can't say I actually liked it. I thought we might get a sleazy, scummy early Abel Ferrara type scenario, so finding it was set in a really quite nice house in LA was a bit of a surprise...

Re: Landmine Goes Click
Agreed on the rape scene, could have been edited down and not lost any impact. I didn't like the lack of moral separation between Ilia and Chris when it came down to the revenge aspect. Only in the final seconds did we see any sign that he wasn't just as bad as Ilia on the hillside. I thought the w...

Re: Frightfest Thanks
As someone who's often moaned about organisational issues at past Frightfests, I'd like to thank the team for making everything run like clockwork this year. I suspect the discipline of running three main screens helps a great deal with efficiency, although it must be bloody hard work. Everything st...
Re: Deathgasm
As a fan of both horror and metal, albeit a generation (or two) older than the characters in the film, I was looking forward to this. It wasn't quite as good as I'd hoped but it was certanly nowhere near as bad as I'd feared. The musical aspect never really convinced but the film was certainly good ...
