I enjoyed Mandy Lane, it was a good story, well-directed, and I didn't guess the twist ending at all (even up to the point where her 'friend' runs into her knife  I thought she'd forgotten she was holding it...) :D I couldn't really see why everyone loved Mandy so much, though, she just seemed...

I quite enjoyed this when watching it, particularly the 2nd section, but overall it wasn't one of my favourites (Mr Scrobble, on the other hand, really loved it - so each to their own and all). It didn't stick in my mind after watching, though, which films I've really enjoyed tend to do - I think pa...

Teeth was great! I considered skipping out before it started so we'd have a reasonable length of time to get something to eat, but am glad I stayed, haven't laughed so hard in ages! I thought they got the tone just right, I don't agree with Laymonite on that point - I just don't think it would work ...

I was so bored by this, couldn't get into it at all, the story seemed pointless, and I didn't 'get' why Katya and Sasha got together in the first place...would you leap into bed with someone who blocked the way into your flat and then kicked you before you'd even introduced yourselves?! And the endi...

I really enjoyed this event and think it would be an interesting permanent addition to the festival, doesn't hurt that Adam and Alan are both great people to listen to... Maybe next year we can watch the Spiral commentary being recorded?? I agree with making it a permanent addition to the festival,...

I thought they did a good job keeping the tension up, and was head and shoulders above Adrift for me (I hated all the characters in Adrift so couldn't wait for them to die, and there was no monster/scary thing other than the sea - it was their own stupidity that put them in the situation they were i...

I really enjoyed the Simpsons Movie, felt like an extended episode (i.e. exactly what it should have been) - and would go and see it again in a heartbeat.

And on the theme of Rediscovering Oddball Eighties Genre Movies: I caught up with Russell Mulcahy's Australian Razorback last night some 15 years after first seeing it on VHS. I'd actually forgotten everything about it but briefly: it's pretty damn terrific. Beautifully shot (it's good to see it in...

Another fan of The Prestige here. Living in the sticks, it only opened a week later than everyone else, but it was worth the wait (if you discount the 6 12-year-olds sniggering and slurping drinks behind us). I guessed part of the ending but not the rest. Then again, I also didn't guess The Sixth Se...

Another thumbs up for Children of Men. Thought-provoking, downbeat and scarily realistic. It's good to see a future world where people don't give a s**t about how they treat the planet - they all know there's no chance of the human race being around another however many years it will take to destroy...

Anyone else seen The Dark yet? Some of the similarities between that and Silent Hill are a little bit uncanny and have been confusing some of the customers at work, heh (Sean Bean plays the father in both, for example) Saw this in the cinemas when it was out and really enjoyed it - shame it seemed ...
