Top Five FF17 Films

Best film of the festival is too narrow. I want to hear people's top five. My own, in no particular order:

Lowlife
68 Kill
Killing Ground
Double Date
Dead Shack

Re: Best and worst film?

Best: Lowlife.
Original script, great humour, great acting, complex characters and much more
Worst: Attack of the adult babies.
Terrible idea, badly executed. Hard to watch. Just quite terrible.

A big thank you

Again to Ian, Paul, Alan and Greg and to all the FF family. It is a wonderful feeling to come back year after year to find the same dedication and enthusiasm.

And a wonderful FF17 program, much stronger than the last two editions. And back @ Leicester!! What else could one hope for.

Thanks again

Walking in and out of theater

Frightfest has done a great job over the years ensuring no one will leave their phones on and disturb a movie with an annoying ring tone. I think it is time we turn our attention to people walking in and out in the middle of a movie. And I don't mean 2 or 3 people who may have had an "emergency...

Re: Cell

5/10 Forgettable; hardly anything worth saving, including Cusack's wooden performance and laughable finale.

Re: Let Her Out

4/10 Pretty annoying film with the saving grace of the scary scenes towards the end, including at the parking lot.

Re: Downhill

Terribly boring and self-important film. I was hoping the female lead would die very quickly to spare us all the uncalled for on-screen modelling.
One of the worst of an otherwise fairly mediocre 2016 festival.

Lederhosen zombies
Knucklebones

Train to Busan

There seem to be quite a few "home invasion" films this year...

Re: Bait

I enjoyed this film and the social aspect was useful and fresh. However, all the market scenes and some of the dialogue seemed just straight out of a Coronation Street or Emmerdale episode, which needless to say really put me off.

Re: Is Frightfest becoming 'trendy'?

I don't think so. I've done 12 years and I don't see a drop in general film quality or any sign of "trending", whatever that might mean. One thing worries me, though. As a huge fan of zombies, I have found a serious lack of zombies in the Main Screen lineup this year, perhaps with the only...

My top and bottom 3

I have given some thought to my top and bottom 3 from FF2015, considering that this year I watched all the Main Screen films and nothing else. Top 3 1. We are still here (8.5/10) 2. Deathgasm (8/10) 3. A Christmas story (7.5/10) I reaaaally wanted to put Inner Demon at 2 or 3, as I loved the atmosph...

Re: Jeruzalem

Fun enough. Too much like Cloverfield, with the happy party atmosphere suddenly turning into unexpected monster action. Good, interesting characters and good pace.

Loved the film. Not really a metal fun, but really enjoyed the score and what it did to the film.

Re: Some Kind Of Hate

I found this film absolutely dreadful, and I am shocked to read some positive reviews here and there, including a gloating "cult classic" review at Fangoria. Could I really be so far off? Never mind. I really could not stand the pathetic dialogues, the lame (but non-stop) bullying, the way...
