Mission: Impossible 4 A Go!
Filed under: Film Flickers > Tom Cruise

Is Tom Cruise hard up for cash?

We can't even remember when he had his last hit movie!

As we mentioned before, Cruise is apparently still trying to get Mission: Impossible 4 on the big screen.

Why???

In fact, he's even reached out to Star Trek director J.J. Abrams to produce the sequel.

According to Adams, who directed Mission: Impossible III, he says "I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on Mission: Impossible 4. Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing."

However, MI3 made the least amount of money from the franchise, bringing in about $400 million compared to the almost $550 million the second flick brought in.

Somehow we're thinking this movie might bomb.

But, then again, it's a good brand, right?

Star Trek director J.J. Abrams tells TV Guide that he will be producing the fourth "Mission: Impossible" film.

"I am incredibly honored that Tom has invited me back as a producer on 'Mission: Impossible 4,'" said Abrams, who directed 2006's Mission: Impossible III, but hasn't yet committed to directing the fourth.

"Tom and I have come up with a really cool idea we are pursuing," he added.

The third film cost about $150 million to make and earned $397.8 million worldwide. The first pic pulled in $457.7 million worldwide on a $80 million budget and the second took in $546.3 million on a $125 million budget.

Abrams' credits include TV shows "Fringe," "Lost," "Alias" and "Felicity."

Leo To Spawn A New Movie Role?
Filed under: Film Flickers > Leonardo DiCaprio

Veteran comic-book man Todd McFarlane has very lofty goals for his remake of his signature comic-book movie Spawn. There are some big ideas on the table, including who will play the film's lead character.

And who does McFarlane want? Leonardo DiCaprio, of course.

Though the the idea seems doubtful, McFarlane sites that Leo's dad was a "big fan of underground comic books" and he is hoping that that passion has trickled down a generation. Heconcedes though, that the main character he envisions Leo playing isn't the famed Spawn, but rather a detective on the hunt for the anti-hero.

Our vote is "no" on this one. We honestly can't see Leo getting sucked into a comic-book franchise. He doesn't need the hassle. One sinking ship per career is enough.

Do U think Leo would take the role?

Todd McFarlane Pictures Leonardo DiCaprio In Lead Role For ‘Spawn’
Published by Rick Marshall on Tuesday, June 9, 2009 at 4:27 pm.
Last month, we caught up with comics veteran Todd McFarlane during the premiere of “X-Men Origins: Wolverine” and received some details about his plans for a new “Spawn” movie. Comparing the film to everything from “Jaws” to “The Departed,” the Spawn (and Spider-Man villain Venom) creator had a lot to say about his ambitious plans for a reboot of the “Spawn” movie universe — plans that include a very lofty goal for the film’s lead actor.

“The main character isn’t Spawn, per se, it’s the guy chasing Spawn,” McFarlane told MTV News. “And I’ve always had [Leonardo] DiCaprio in the back of my mind.”

“It’s a big wish, but his dad was a big fan of underground comic books and he came from that,” explained McFarlane of why he has the “Revolutionary Road” actor in mind. “It’s not a big special-effects movie, it’s a character movie, so I could shoot it in 40-50 days and you don’t have to budget that much time.”

As for the character he envisions DiCaprio playing in the film, McFarlane hinted that it wouldn’t be either of the two detectives “Spawn” fans have come to know best — possibly due to some other Hollywood project with their names on it.

“We had Sam and Twitch in the book, but because of some of the stuff I’m trying to sell in Hollywood, we might have to change the characters a bit,” explained McFarlane. “But it would still be a police character who’s chasing down a case and in the middle of this ‘Godfather’-type movie, something weird is out there and no one knows about it except him and a few other people.”

Would you like to see Leo DiCaprio in a “Spawn” movie? What do you think of Todd McFarlane’s plans for a new “Spawn” film?

Actors Tapped For Straw Dogs Remake

Kate Bosworth and Alexander Skarsgard are set to star alongside James Marsden in Screen Gems’ “Straw Dogs,” a “reimagining” of the original 1971 film by Sam Peckinpah.

Rod Lurie wrote the script and is directing, with shooting set to start in August 2009.

Marsden plays a Hollywood screenwriter who relocates with his actress wife, played by Bosworth, to her hometown in Mississippi. Skarsgard will play her high school boyfriend, an ex-football hero who sees her coming home as a way to reclaim lost glory. The original film was controversial upon its release for its violence and scenes of rape, and for what was viewed as glorification of misogyny and vigilantism.

Scream 4 Continues Minus Two

Scream creator Kevin Williamson has spilled some deets regarding the upcoming Scream 4!

Williamson says he's still working on the script for the fourth installment of the film series, and we're not getting just one new Scream flick - we've been gifted with a whole new trilogy!

Williamson explains how the new trilogy came to light:

[Exec. Producer] Bob Weinstein has been bugging me a hundred billion years, "Let’s do it. Let’s do it." Wes [Craven] and I were like "no way." Then finally I was taking some time off, sitting around thinking "what if I had to do Scream 4?" I wasn’t interested, [but then I thought] "a trilogy – now I’d be interested! Could we do that and develop a trilogy?" and then I started thinking about the story. I created three different chapters, broke it up and I got really excited.

Scream 4 will pick up 10 years from where Scream 3 left off, according to the screenwriter.

Wes Craven has yet to sign onto the project, considering the script has yet to be completed, but Williamson is more than positive Poppa Craven will attach his name to the film, whether he likes it or not!

Kevin continues:

Wes is a director who wants to read the script before he commits. And I think that's kind of where it sits right now. But I believe that with Courteney and David [Arquette] and me and the gang all back together again… Just from an emotional standpoint I don't see how he can pass it up, because I just think it would be too much fun for him. Because nothing has been more fun than making those movies. It's a family, and I think we agree that we can't go back and have a familywithout Dad at the head of the table. So I have a feeling that we're going to make him go. Between me, Courteney and David, we're gonna make him do it.

Williamson also confirmed that both Neve Campbell and Jamie Kennedy will not be reprising the roles of Sidney and Randy in the new trilogy.

We won't miss Kennedy, but bring back Sidney!!!

Looks like Lost Boys 3 is going to happen

http://www.joblo.com/arrow/index.php?id=18495

Even though LOST BOYS: THE TRIBE sucked donkey balls, it must have made a good amount of money on DVD and Blu-ray because according to Production Weely, Warner Premiere is gearing up for a third LOST BOYS movie!

We heard rumblings about a third LOST BOYS back in March, but haven't heard much about it since... until now, that is! The official title for the sequel is LOST BOYS: THE THIRST. How you like them apples?

I kinda dig THE THIRST, it has a nice ring to it, and goes nicely as a counterpart to THE TRIBE. No real information is known about THE THIRST other than the confirmation that Corey Feldman and Jamison Newlander (aka The Frog Bros.) will be returning for the third time around. Nice!

Is the world ready for another LOST BOYS movie? I'm not so sure, but if they put a little more effort in making it good, then maybe I'd actually be looking forward to checking this out. If it's the same as THE TRIBE... well, god help us all!

Stick around for more news and updates on LOST BOYS: THE THIRST as they come our way!

This is Laymonite speaking again now. Lost Boys 2 was ok I suppose, but the best bit was the alternate ending on the dvd, which should have been the beginning of part 2 and the film followed that story. For anyone who hasn't seen it (SPOILER) the alternate ending has Corey Haim turn up and talk to Corey Feldman and there seems to be a bit of tension between them. Obviously there's been some bad blood between them. Then Haim shows Feldman some bite marks on his neck that Feldman's now-vampire brother gave to him. Hopefully part 3 will pick up from that.
Bring her to me, you bum. I'll take care of business.

With the help of his friends Zoe, Lars and Blake, Edgar heads into a bloody battle to exterminate evil." Shooting is set to begin this November in South Africa."

'I Spit on Your Grave' Remake Shooting MONDAY
Friday, October 30, 2009

Bloody Disgusting learned exclusively that production officially begins this Monday on I Spit on Your Grave, a remake of Meir Zarchi's classic 1978 film Day of the Woman. We also learned that Steven R. Monroe (Left in Darkness) will be getting behind the camera for the remake that will star Andrew Howard, best known among genre fans for his roles in Adam Mason's The Devil's Chair, Luster and Blood River. In the original, a woman is abducted, brutally attacked and raped and then left for dead. She survives, hunts her attackers and dispatches them in graphic ways.

I am really surprised that they do not make them with a) or b) in the title, like:

"Nightmare on Elm street" part 32-A (2024 year) with a promise from producers that "Nightmare on Elm street" part 32-B will came in January 2035. I am sure that this is going to happen... because I can see that many would say something like this somewhere on forum:

"I am hating myself for telling you but I can not wait for "Nightmare" 32-B, yes, yes, I know 32-A was terrible, but they left me waiting to see what will happend to Freddy's aunt in that "Home For Old People" where Freddy was stuned to see that all those old people made him a birthday cake with candels for him to blow and make a wish. I am just dying to see in 32-B what wish that would be, beacuse, as you remember, in 32-A he was soooo old, in a wheel chair near the end of the movie, wishing to go back in time and... and what? I have to see what wish he would have. He was such a changed man, more honest, human, in 32-A, but still, crapy movie, thou."

And there's plot!

There is an old Burma's saying: "Everything with a number after the title is just number after the title."

:D
Have a lovely day

There is another remake of "Amityville Horror" being greenlit according to Bloody Disgusting.com

A Remake of A Remake, I actually thought the Melissa George version was pretty decent, but this is incredulous.

HATE pointless, needless remakes. Never watch em. Especially if it's of a classic 70's film that's easily available and does not need redoing.

But i have to say i've never liked Freddy much at all (wise cracking horror icons....*shudder*) or cared much about the films.
But the first is still an iconic part of horror history...and remaking it shows no respect.

But personally I have warm fluffy links to "ANOES" so I don't really care from that point of view.
Curious to see how Jackie Earle Haley does after he was so damn good in "Watchmen".

But hey...people who bitch and moan and then go to see the re-makes anyway just to bitch and moan are part of the problem as they fund this stuff.
if you really care you'll avoid them all.

I don't...there's always Vincent Price. Different -- hugely different -- class of wit, granted, but there's a huge precedent from EC to Amicus and beyond.
