Welcome to Reaper Awards 2009.
Grimmy Nominees have been announced. Now it is up to you to choose the winners. Vote Now!.
We at Home Media Magazine and DreadCentral.com are excited to have you join us in the first awards campaign dedicated entirely to horror on home video.
From cult classics to modern blockbusters and direct-to-video gems, the goal of Reaper Awards is to honor horror as it’s meant to be seen — raw and uncensored.
On Oct. 13 “The Grimmys” will be awarded to the best DVDs and Blu-ray Discs of the year at the hauntingly historic Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel.
Our esteemed horror experts have chosen the nominees based on the quality of the films and how they are presented on home video.
But deciding the winners is up to you — the devoted fans. The online vote runs Sept. 1 through Oct. 1.
Who knows, maybe this event will get bigger every year. Adam & Joe presented an award...
The boxed set of Hellraiser won the top honor at the first-ever Reaper Awards, earning Best of Show as well as Best Packaging and Best Re-mastering for Anchor Bay Entertainment.
The announcement came at a red carpet gala awards dinner and cocktail party at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel in Los Angeles on Tuesday, October 13. The 2009 Reaper Awards were presented by Home Media Magazine and DreadCentral.com.
In addition to Best of Show, the ceremony revealed the winners in 14 categories as voted by consumers in an online vote. A blue-ribbon panel of judges comprised of top names in the horror industry selected finalists in each of the categories from titles released between Sept. 1, 2008, and Aug. 31, 2009.
The Reaper Awards also honored industry veteran Michael Felsher with a lifetime achievement award, marking his work on special features and ability to make them truly unique.
The Best Slasher Award went to two recipients this year, Laid to Rest from Anchor Bay Entertainment and The Last House on the Left from 20th Century Fox Home Entertainment/MGM.

hock: hock: hock: hock: hock: hock: hock:
Laid To Rest has been getting some, how you say, puzzlingly breathless praise on DVD sites over the pond. Whie I'm impressed that someone's managed to get their picture out there, I'm kind of at a loss to explain why all that praise has been forthcoming myself. I think a lot of it has to do with an enormous amount of goodwill afforded the director, Rob Hall, who's a really well liked guy in the fan community and seems a true fan from the extra features on the disc.

But it's plainly no Hatchet.
Nasty, nasty kills. Plus Bobbi Sue Luthor. Numa nums.
