Harpers Island
SPOILERS - though you shouldn't be reading this thread if you haven't watched it!
I absolutely loved this show. Ghooldrool and I have been recording them and saving them up and watched them all through this week.
It was scary, gory, tense, exciting, funny, shocking and lots of other things too. It took a while to get used to the characters and tell who was who but, once I did, I really started to care about (most of) them. Some of the deaths were quite upsetting, particularly Cal and Chloe.
In the last few episodes I really wasn't sure who was going to survice. And the revelation that Henry was in fact a baddie all along, which I should have seen coming, was a shock to the system.
A couple of things though, where did the rest of the island's population disappear to? And why did no one ever take the opportunity to shoot Wakefield when they had the chance? When they did shoot they would always miss cos he was too far away. I suppose that's a genre convention I should be used to by now.
Definitely one to add to the dvd collection.

Bring her to me, you bum. I'll take care of business.
I loved it to, but the question of where the island's population dissappeared to? Well I just decided not to think about that one too hard.Laymonite wrote:A couple of things though, where did the rest of the island's population disappear to?
Apparently (according to the Guardian Harper's blog anyway) the Fx team had some really eleborate gore effects the network kept insisting they tone down. Here's hoping for an uncut DVD edition.
Harpers was so much better than most recent slasher films, and the genre fit the longer TV series format so well I can't believe no-one's really tried this before.
There is no delight the equal of dread
