Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated – UK Showing

Post by Zombie Ed »

Hi All,

Just a quick note to let you know that throughout the Day of the Undead, this coming Saturday (November 28th) we will be showing Night of the Living Dead: Reanimated throughout the cinema. This project takes the original soundtrack from the entire Romero film, but the visuals have been re-created by a large number of different artists from CGI creators to animators to comic book artists that creates a new version of the original film, from more than 50 different points…

I know that this will not be the clearest explanation, but you have to see it to believe it… It is a truly imaginative and yet completely respectful homage to the original and one of the artists will be at the Day of the Undead to answer questions and to create zombie caricatures for our guests…

Don’t forget, the Day of the Undead is this weekend, in Leicester and you can book tickets though the phone by calling the Phoenix Square Box Office on 0116 242 2800 from 9am to 9pm Monday to Saturday…

Hope to see you there,

Zombie Ed

Just got back home not long ago this morning after spending the day with the undead on and off the screen on Saturday
A full line up of films throughout the day and it was well worth the ticket price and travelling even though its not too far for us.
The Phoenix square in Leicester was a great venue all new n shiny and Eds organisation and hard work to pull this off was worth it.
A little disapointed that Romeros dawn of the dead was a trimmed version missing some of the gore, but was pleased to see La Horde and give support to a local no budget zombie horror film that played to a full audience and end the day with zombieland.
i skipped on Pontypool and dead snow as having seen them very recently to get some lunch.
i look forward to next years event and its growth to a bigger event of zombie culture.
i had a great time thanks Ed :D

so have been racking my brains over the trimmed version shown at the day of the undead.
it seems to have been the extended version but trimmed from showing too much gore.
The only time i have seen a trimmed version of this was during the forbidden season of films shown on BBC 2 back in the 90s,that was the 1st time i saw the scenes with joe pilato in Dawn Of the Dead and i still have that on vhs recorded with an introduction by George Romero.

Notable cuts include the head blast scene from the ghetto shootout, the 2nd arm bite from the husband zombie in the apartment, the zombie kids not being shot at the airport to name a few of the early cuts.

im pretty sure the intervision video release was the US Theatrical Cut and the subsequently trimmed EIV video release was also the same version trimmed excessively by the BBFC in the early 90s on its video re release with the 18 rating.

Will have to check my laserdiscs to see what those were as well.

It was indeed a great day, thanks to Ed and everyone behind the scenes.

I too thought it was an odd cut of Dawn to show - I noticed a couple of lines of dialog that I'm less familiar with (the unintentionally hilarious line in the helicopter about Peter leaving behind his "brothers" for one). There was some pretty horrific edge enhancement going on too...not that it spoiled my enjoyment. I guess when you've seen something that many times a few pq issues are nothing to worry about.

Pontypool looked absolutely amazing on the big screen, and really showed off what the new Phoenix is capable of.

Dead Snow raised another giggle; I didn't think I'd enjoy it as much the second time through, but it's still very funny in places. Hope the sequel happens.

Zombie Undead was...um...

La Horde was daft, brilliant, French zombie mentalness. Good stuff.

Surely we're all familiar with Zombieland? I will say that it played quite nicely on the same bill as Dawn, for various thematic reasons.

I'm going to say more on my blog hopefully.

Thanks again Ed. For those of you who didn't come, I hope to see you there next year.

Dan.
