Fright Night remake

Post by MaxRenn » Wed Jun 09, 2010 4:03 pm

I loved Fright Night back in the 80s, but I'm gonna say it, everything I hear about the upcoming remake makes it sound potentially like a big bag of awesome.

The casting is both spot on, and suggests a bit of a twist on the oringinal template.

David Tennant and Christopher Mintz-Plasse, that sounds it could be pretty awesome! :)

As Fright Night is one of my favourite films ever (in fact my 2nd favourite horror after The Evil Dead) I had fully intended to skip this remake. But I must admit the casting of David Tennat has me interested. I quite like the sound of the changes being made to the Peter Vincent character. 25 years after the original, it couldn't have been a Peter Cushing type character as it was before, it would have been outdated. Making him a magician leaves room for him to be a simlar type of character to the original Peter Vincent, just from a different, more contemporary background.

Colin Farrel's not a bad choice for Jerry Dandridge either, though I would have gone with Julian McMahon.

I'll probably watch it when it comes on telly.

The director of this is going to be David Gillespie who made Lars and the Real Girl. although I didn't much like that film he's a potentially an interesting director (at the very least a cut above the likes of Marcus Nispel). That and the quality casting definately move this into the list of in development films to keep tabs on.

Cutie Imogen Poots, from 28 Weeks Later and Centurion, has been cast as the girlfriend, Amy.
