Islamism is not some sort of united movement
I know a few women's rights activists, authors, directors and cartoonists that would disagree.

And they'd be wrong, too. If you want, I'm more than happy to give you empirical evidence, historical progress of Islam and Islamism's rise and what it entails and what it doesn't.

If not, then by all means continue to drool over your keyboard.

It's quite obvious what sort of a simple-minded, idiotic approach you are taking to this just by choosing to ignore what I write when it suits you.

Hence even though I suggest you do some research and find out about Iranian cinema and the other side filmmaking you still spout rubbish such as:

Perhaps Hollywood was unclear too.
Perhaps now though we'll get at least one film.
Even if only to annoy the fuck out of pseudo-liberal sheep like you (country's full of them) who bleat in ernest to defend the most ill-liberal entity this side of The Pope's jockstrap wipers.
So what I'm going to do instead of arguing with a neo-fascist like yourself is to give you a list of films - have a look, watch, you never know you might learn something.

And I think that'll be enough.

Khastegi (My Sex Life) 2008:
Asr-e-Jome
Ten (2002)
Offside (2006)
At Five In The Afternoon
Hafez
The Blackboard
Osama (2003)
Songs From My Motherland
No One Knows About Persian Cats

And I sincerely believe if you were to watch A SINGLE one of these movies ; you would be forced to stop screaming as EVERY single one of these movies is about life in those countries and what the people suffered.

But first you might have to learn to deal with subtitles. However I have faith in you, anyone who can use copy and paste so well should be able to learn any skill pretty quickly.

Sincerely yours

Voor

Kandahar is also quite terrific and/or unsettling.

Saw Shutter Island a few days ago. Rather enjoyed this one. The sense of increased foreboding. Though I did think the opening music was overdramatic but really liked the setting. Twists and turns to keep you watching. Certainly kept me entertained.

This is to Cape Fear as Deep Blue Sea is to Jaws. Well, it nearly is, parts of it are, but it doesn't quite cut it. I can't tell you how much I wanted the villain to be a rogue android double Gerard Butler. But alas...

It hasn't got half the grungy heart and soul of Vigilante or The Exterminator, though.

There's a terrific interview with Thelma Schoonmaker (can't or the life of me remember where it is, frustratingly) where she talks about that opening sequence of Shutter Island and how Scorsese's use of music is deliberately subjective and heightened to mirror Teddy's mental state as he approaches the gates. Come the climax, it kind of makes sense.

Fog Tropes by John Adams -- loved it!

I know Voor is for this film how I am about Amer and the reverse is true. A rich, satisfying treasure.

Real problem with Law Abiding Citizen is that the high gloss approach really doesn't suit the material (whereas it's perfectly suited to Deep Blue Sea), apparently Frank Darabont was once attached the the script. the mind boggles.

Anyway, today I watched the second half of my vengeance double bill with the far rougher, far grungier, and far more effective The Horseman. Which I liked a great deal, although the somewhat contrived third act moves into have your cake and eat it territory with regards to the portrayal of violence.

I have to say that law abiding citizen is one of those films that the film is all in the trailer. it doesnt even try to be a hard hitting shocking piece of vengeance cinema, just a shockingly bad piece of film making of which everyone should be whipped for, robert ginty would be turning in his grave at this, its like lets make a revenge piece of film entertainment for those who like revenge style movies but without any real revenge events,or gratuitous retribution, just revenge vigilante fantasy film making for the middle to upperclass america who can watch it from the safety of pay per view in their panic room.
its Shit with a capital S but gerard butler keeps churning them out, just like turds needless to say i wont be seeing the bounty hunter, if there are 2 female actresses that can kill any film for me is jennifer aniston and that skinny bint from sex and the city, sarah jessica "all my films are shit" parker,i once had the openmindedness to go and see failure to launch as a double bill before hostel,i can tell where the real torture was, watching that wretched movie, even though i l like mr crazee bongos himself.

Still as revenge flicks go over the recent years i have to say death sentence is a cracking film and worthy of any themed evening of revenge along with the exterminator and bill lustigs vigilante, and not forgetting death wish 2 or the made in Bradford no 3 of the series,i still havent had a chance to watch the horseman yet but will keep trying.

And yet, the judge's mobile phone scene and the steak bone scene. It's like there was a different, far better picture they decided to splice in at random points.

Then it turned into Fletch Goes Rogue. Shame.

But, it did quite well, didn't it? Perhap there'll be a glut of better revenge movies coming down the pipe. No one's *officially* remade Death Wish yet.

LOL, You had to say it didn't you Giles? Now it probably will happen. Wasn't Death Sentance based a a novel by the writer of Death Wish? I do love the bit in that film where Kevin Bacon's family man becomes a graded firearms expert just by reading the manual that came with the gun.

I say give it to Michael Winner and Roger Moore as a swan song.

Never saw Death Sentence: worth it? Talking of two films sourced from the same author imagine it is to Death Wish as The Serpent is to that story's same author's Get Carter?

Yeah, it's from the director of Saw James Wan and is a proper exploitation film, quite grungy, and very violent. Kevin Bacon is typically good in it, although it's clearly nonsense. Worth a rental IMHO

Based on the novel of the same name by Brian Garfield (although he's not credited) which was actually the literary sequel to Death Wish the novel.

I remember the trailer had the best use of John Murphy's In The House... cue outside of the 28 Days Later films...

...I hope it's better than Dead Silence. There isn't a montage of twist-reveals as seems to be the Wan trademark is there?
