The Silent House (http://www.imdb.com/title/tt1646973/) is a spooky little film - shot, handheld, in one take - about a couple of back-packers taking a nap in an abandoned home. There's nothing innovative in the story, but the trick works, and there's bound to be plenty of copycats - including a forthcoming English language remake - arriving in the near future. 3* (good)!

As a responsible adult I find your light hearted comments amusing, but I think there is a genuine danger that these posts glamorise and eroticise horse related injuries and pose the real (as opposed to fanciful) risk that other, more vulnerable, adults may attempt to recreate the scenes you have described in order to achieve sexual gratification.

Horse kickings and other equestrian injuries are no laughing matter and ruin many lives every year, yet promiscuous jockeys wear their broken smiles like a badge of pride and scores of "Chucka Charlies" go to polo matches with the sole intention of meeting wealthy men who have been, or are likely to be, injured by horses.

I think that those responsible for moderating internet forums should act swiftly to protect the public from such depraved and pernicious posts, otherwise young people may start masturbating at Pony Clubs or falling off horses deliberately in a misguided attempt to make themselves more desireable to like minded perverts.

I just rewatched Crash (on Ferman era VHS cassette) simply to remind myself that the BBFC sometimes makes the right decision.

Cronenberg rules!

watched the shrine and trick r treat this weekend
I loved both of them.
Shrine i thought was nicely done lots of mystery about it even at the end not all questions were answered fully and thats something i really dig.
Trick r treat is just great fun and some awsome practical effects
You're scared of mice and spiders, but oh-so-much greater is your fear that one day the two species will cross-breed to form an all-powerful race of mice-spiders, who will immobilize human beings in giant webs in order to steal cheese.

That's coincidence. I watched Trick R Treat on Saturday night. I'd had it for ages and completely forgot about it. Far better than I was expecting. Really enjoyed it.

The uncut version of The New York Ripper on blu has just arrived from the USA, so that is my Monday night viewing sorted.

Rise of the Planet if the Apes is bloody brilliant, all hail Ceaser.
Aliens & Cowboys was just meh, some good bits but still just meh.
Watching Inbetweeners in the morrow too.

Final Destination 5. Nice , dark, gory fun, on par with the first three. Big improvement over the horrendous fourth.

Can't wait to see it with all the frightfesters!

Just watched Kaboom. Though some people obviously don't get it, I thought it was outstanding. Donnie Darko is the obvious comparison but there are elements of Lynch and even Judd Apatow. The film begs to be watched in HD but I could only find the blu-ray in France. It is the original English version but with burnt in French subs. Not to much of a hindrance to a really excellent film.
