I saw The Ward myself last night. I thought it was very mediocre, bordering on boring. The characters were almost entirely cliched as were the plot developments. The ending was predictable, there was a complete lack of atmosphere, the scares were obvious and the 'monster' looked like Eddie from Iron Maiden.

I've just crawled out of James Cameron's Sanctum and it isn't good.

Some of the most inane dialogue you'll hear in 2011 and an almost complete lack of tension. When the best line is "That hole looks tighter than a nun's nasty" you know you're in trouble.

To be fair to "Executive Producer" Cameron, I'm sure he was just around to provide the 3D - which, though better than "converted 3D", still doesn't do anything interesting with the format here.

Does provide a few laughs though - but not intentionally.

Red Hill was possibly my favourite frightfest 2010 film along with I Spit, and Monsters, and The Loved Ones.

It is now avaliable on region 1, and rewatched it last night. Even better the 2nd time. A real masterpiece and to think it hasnt even been picked up for release over here yet.

Scandalous why so few Aussie films get a proper release over here, I see Lake Mungo is getting a DVD release but its criminal that films as good as these two don't get the big screen treatment.

I concur!!! It's dire... :(

I did however see Tangled and Rabbit Hole on the same day... they were both GREAT :) loved them... Rabbit Hole was damn depressing though.

You know where to go to find the reviews lol

PAUL:

From the trailer i wasn't convinced, mainly due to seth rogen as the voice of paul, but i was in stitches all the way through. It's a classic and some of the homages and one-liners are just awesome! Seth rogen is totally the man as PAUL. Two of the best scenes involve a slagging match between PAUL and a god-fearing girl and a scene in a comic book store.

Totally awesome!

@Maniacal,

Is Shakespeare rolling in his grave re Gnomeo and Juliet?

Hopefully not, I probably prefer the happy ending in Gnomeo and Juliet as apposed to the over dramatic ending of Romeo and Juliet.

He preys on all who enter his wooded domain. 'Yogi Bear 3D' was the last film I saw (I have a 5 year old daughter). To be fair, the 3D effects were surprisingly good. My daughter loved the scene where Yogi's bum came out of the screen (thankfully it wasn't in odourama), and my favourite moment featured Yogi sneezing a grub from his nose into the audiences faces (I'm 42).

id rather blow my own ball sacks off with a winchester rifle than watch another self adoring and nowhere near as funny as it thinks it is geek-fest from the frost - pegg reach around crew.....in-fact i would rather stare at yogi bears arse in 3D for 90mins.

peace

Exorcismus - can i borrow that winchester? They ram every Exorcist rip off moment into the first act and then try and go Emily Rose. Also as it is from the producers of Rec someone thought it would be an idea to copy the camera style despite it not being a found footage film. Now i do not have any issue with rack zooms and handheld camera work but it felt really out of place when you should be attempting to build an atmosphere of tension or dread. Total balls.

It's getting mixed reviews for I really liked The Rite for the most part...

Glasgow hero Rutger Hauer is not in it much though.

Watched Thirst for the first time yesterday and enjoyed it. I always enjoy Chan-wook Park's movies mind you, there's always a really odd combination of laughs and sadism. A nice wee spin on the vampire romance, and amidst all the bloodshed I found it really touching.
