Got home last night and along with some Finnish music and the latest Arnaldur Indridason book (Arctic Chill) there was a DVD I'd forgotten I'd actually ordered - The Bloodstained Shadow.

The Devil's Chair

Post by Notts Pete »

Just ordered The Devil's Chair - out in a few weeks on R1 from Sony.

http://www.dvdtimes.co.uk/content.php?contentid=68925

Directed by the UK's Adam Mason I quite like the look of this one and like to support as many British flicks as possible. Plus, it has some Art Direction by the delightful and talented Melanie Light - who also just happens to be a FrightFester herself - so see this one if you can folks.
I bet you think you know all about vampires ... believe me, you know f@*& all.

I feel like going off on a random tangent...

Gialloween - an idea for a film surely. Keen to see Argento's 'Giallo', but don't think the Euro starlet totty factor is high enough for it. Gialloween could change that.... Tuva Navotny (Stoned/Sweden), Sophie Guillemin (Harry, He's Here To Help/France), Martina Gedeck (Atomised/Germany and potential vilainess material), Anna-Kristiina Juuso (The Cuckoo/Finland), Katie Lyons (Boy A/UK). Obviously to be a proper Giallo it neess a US leading lady - I'd go with Maggie Gyllenhaal.

With Edwige Fenech in a pivitol role, of course. Something comparable with the the Alida Valli role from Suspiria.

This *must* happen.

If the lottery group I'm in at work does win a massive jackpot I will fund it.

Actually I was thinking recently that if I did win a bundle then splashing out £1m on a horror film could potentially be a good investment. Especially if they rent enough at Blockbusters and sell anough at Woolies. Looking at the complete crap that is being knocked out for a fast buck there is room for trying to bring in some straight to video class.

I bought absolutely nothing this month. FF has strangled the life out of my bank balance but it was worth it. Now to find the money for Gorefest and the all nighter as well....

But i had a good month this month so I may just treat myself to a few treats...

I just felt the need to splurge mildly on some DVDs and nabbed a nice threesome from Play.com:

SAW 4 (Extreme Edition), which completes the series so far for a fiver, and will make a nice seven hours of screaming bloody torture for me to sit through in preparation for the upcoming Halloween treat that is Saw 5

DUST DEVIL, a terrific film I should have bought ages ago but it's £4 just now (not bothered by the 5-disc Region 1 set with loads of unrelated Richard Stanley documentaries and the crazy soundtrack which of course I already have on CD)

DAWN OF THE MUMMY, which I dimly remember from the heavily cut Apex Video release but the DVD has all previous cuts waived, and it is set in Africa AND all this for £3.

Rummaging through a pile of 1.99 dvds in BBusters and ended up with Maniac Cop my dvd player nearly spat this back out at me,a synergy dvd, that claimed to have a commentary from the cast,Bah its poor quality straight from a badly worn VHS tape, just avoid that dvd release so thats going back.
On a good note Basic Instinct 2disc anniversary edition for 1.99 and The Replacement killers extended cut,if you have the collectors edition stick with that its better.
