Ashes to Ashes, what a climax! Raw and emotional, mind boggling, often upsetting. OK the dad being the clown was obvious as was the potential for it to be a murder suicide. Gene Hunt has been softened for sure but he is a much more likeable character now than the on the take bully we first met 2 years ago. more please!
Agreed, though I still preffered "Life on Mars".
One comment he made to Geoffrey Palmer's character (was he an MP or something?) that I didn't pick up on at the time, in which he said something along the lines of "You may not like who we are, what we do, or how we do it, but in 20 years time when you're too scared to step outside your luxury house because the place is over run with hoodlums, don't come running to us".
Now I thought he was just having a go at the charatcers attitiude, but some of the lads who were discussing this at work the next day realised that what the scriptwriter was actually doing was making a comment about how modern policing has failed and allowed the yobs to take over. I didn't pick up on this at the time, but when you think about it he was actually right.
