The Chaser

Well made and so forth, but jonbly couldn't really engage with this one. Perhaps a bit heavy on the critique of police procedure.

Well made movie. Plot ticked along at a decent pace - nearly two hours long but the time just flew by - enjoyed it.

Not a horror movie, but this is my favorite movie of the Fest so far, in fact it's one of my favorite movies of the year. I love detailed police procedural thrillers and there wasn't a predictable moment in the film.

It was overlong and pretty enjoyable but as a police procedural it was flawed.
And why is there a thing with filmmakers about Tawainese and Korean police forces that they just come across as comically incompetent and lazy. It gets tedious after a while. They spend all their time making bad decisions and shouting at each other. Oh, and sleeping in police cars. Change the record please.

I'd pencilled in giving this one a miss and getting some food, but I managed to grab a quick lunch and get back in time for this, and I'm glad I did cos even though I didn't expect much from it, it was a pleasant surprise and I enjoyed it.

Was a long film, but once it got going it really grabbed me, it was almost like an extreme Asian James Bond film. One of the surprises of the festival for me, liked this one.

Really liked this.

Will be interesting see how a US remake deals with the 'hero pimp' aspect of it.

One of the best of the fest for me.

Really liked this.

Slightly long but very engaging.

***Spoiler***

I can't imagine in the US remake that they'll let him kill her before the police get there.

Thoroughly enjoyable, I found myself totally absorbed in it and didn't feel it dragging at all. Maybe they'll get Nicolas Cage for the American remake because he can do that sleazy hero kind of role.

Overlong a tad, but the first Korean film I have ever seen that did not have a gratuitous surreal or comedic sequence for no apparent reason (yes, Oldboy "dog" sequence I am looking at you). Although the police station argument was verging on it.

Extremely well played by the leads, the gloating killer really did the trick.

Nah, Mr. Cage couldn't play the lead - there's no scene involving the protagonist taking his shirt off, and standing in front of a mirror for 10 minutes.

The only Nic Cage film I want to see is Werewolf Women of the SS..

Another one I loved, but I thought I probably would. It was as gripping and absorbing as I expected. The remake will probably be horrible!
