Best laugh I've had during a film at Frightfest, and not for the reasons the director intended. Reading through some of the comments on here has made me chuckle again - sorry to those who felt the laughing was inappropriate, it's hard not to get caught up in the humour around you and the ridiculousness of some of the script and plot.

My favourite line of the film was when 'Jack' (can't remember the character's actual name, so that will have to do) gets back to his sister's apartment and is greeted by an old friend on the police force, who he asks what's happened. His response - a sad shake of the head followed by, "It's not good," is a massive understatement...
If you cut off my head, what would I say... Me and my head, or me and my body? What right has my head to call itself me?

It was the best place to see that film. I think if I'd have watched it down at the local Cineworld, I would have been mighty peeved at paying for it.

I think Mirrors should be on a comedy double-bill with the remake of The Wickerman.

You're so right.

But now you're making me want to waste money buying them both on DVD...

I'm looking forward to the sequel:

Jack Bauer vs The Exorcist II: Ponds

The tagline: Ponds cast reflections too!

jonbly's got this lovely image of Jack Bauer (in twitchy drug-withdrawal mode from Season 5ish) dashing about, desperately trying to destroy everything that could possibly generate a reflection...

"Window!" Blam! tinkle...
"Bald guy with shiny head!" Blam! thud
"Puddle!" Jack splashes the puddle everywhere like a small child with their first pair of wellies
"Stop this, Jack!" "Your eyes... they're reflecting me!" Gouge gouge "Nooooooo!"

...

jonbly will go lie down now.

Anyone seen the BBFC explanation for the 15 rating?
This film was originally shown to the BBFC for advice. The BBFC advised the company that the film was likely to receive an '18' classification but that the requested '15' could be achieved by making some reductions throughout the film. In particular, the BBFC suggested (i) that the bloody spray in the slashing open of a throat in the opening sequence should be removed, (ii) that focus on a badly burned partially naked woman, crying out in pain, should be reduced or removed, (iii) that the protracted bloody detail when a woman's jaw is ripped apart be reduced, and (iv) that, after scissors have been pressed against the neck of a young girl, the sight of scissors being drawn across the neck causing a larger bloody wound be removed. When the finished version of the film was submitted, edits had been made, reducing the strength of the stronger moments sufficiently for the content in the film to be allowable under BBFC Guidelines at '15'. A version comparable with the original advice viewing, with stronger moments restored, has subsequently been classified '18' on DVD.
Hmmmm.

So presumably we saw the 15 version?

I have to say I thought the gorier bits seemed not to fit with the general tone of the film anyway.

I was lead to believe from a Fox contact that we saw the uncut version. I could be wrong.

Thinking back, didn't Alan & co introduce it as the full uncut version?

I'm not too bothered either way, I enjoyed it chiefly for the comedy value.

No - I think we got the full uncut version at FrightFest, but the UK cinema release is the edited 15. The DVD should be the FrightFest version, with the jaw sequence (probably the highlight of the movie) intact.
