The FrightFest ICA all-nighter

Relive the horror of Frightfest 2009

Postby PatrolDave » Sat Sep 19, 2009 1:57 pm

Does anybody have any ideas of what's going to be at the all nighter???

I'm hoping for;

Grace
Survival of the Dead
PARANORMAL ACTIVITY
[REC]2

I'm hearing such good things about Paranormal Activity...it would be amazing to see on halloween.
I have a trailer and everything;

Hey PatrolDave, I don't think they'll be showing Grace as it was at the Glasgow FF event back in Feb, not sure what the lineup might be but hoping the other three aren't on the bill as I'm hoping to catch them in Austin next week :-) Paranormal Activity is supposed to be a corker, so fingers x'd!

I don't wanna see Paranormal Activity... *Looks from left to right all frightened like*

Although it reminds me a lot of Ghostwatch, that Parky BBC investigation halloween hoax :D

Grace is out on Booray in the US but it IS region coded... so beware if you don't have a region free player :D

I should have really checked that out.

How about THIRST?

This is ripe for Frightfest, but I'm not sure how much the organisers enjoyed it. I don't think Mr Jones was over thrilled.

Guys, let's be honest: what we want is Bitch Slap... and then party out with the Bitch Slap girls ;-)

Seriously, that would be one I'm hoping for as it has been under the radar so far with only screenings at Cannes and now Toronto... and a certain someone apparently also didn't dis-like it ;-)

There are a few more - and I'll be honest un-frightening - movies that would be nice: the new OSS 117, Black Dynamite (which might just be the perfect example of how 'Black' should have been done!), Salomon Kane, K-20...

ah yes: The Tournament! Going by the voices hailing over from the German fantasy film fest this one is just over the top...

One secret fav: HISSSS - I mean c'mon: snake woman? SNAKE WOMAN! ;-)

Survival... I guess we can assume that that one is a given! I'm pretty positive that FrightFest had to make due with the teaser as TIFF's Midnight Madness had that one already as a confirmed world premiere - perfectly understandable given the connection '...of the Dead' has with T.O. - but yeah, now that Survival can do the festival circuit, I'd be surprised if we'd have to wait till next year's Glasgow FrightNight.

Oh well, let's wait and see...

is it true dreamworks have bought the rights to Paranormal Activity and are planning to remake it ?
apparently they didn't think the films budget 10K justified a wide cinema release so are remaking it with the original director helming ......that is bonkers and sad if so.

Nah they've seen the light and nixed the remake.

Actually, here is me thinking 'how about shorts?'

I mean unlike other festivals FrightFest did not feature any special shorts pack screening... might be fun to either 'bloat' the night with shorts before/after each feature or finish off the night with bunch shorts?

There's normally a few surprise shorts like last time... Treevenge was AWESOME!!!

Or was it the year before? Lol

Normally the main date has a shorts section but this year they seemed to pick the best of the bunch and slot them in at odd times :D

When is the line-up usually announced?
On the day tickets go on sale or just before?

Also, another solid Paranormal Activity review;

Hooray!! It's so exciting... I've already got an alternative in place should I not be able to get tickets to this.

Grimm Up North is a new horror film festival starting up here in Manchester that weekend :) although most of the films we've seen at frightfest :( So I'll be being very selective. couldn't sit through I sell the dead again :lol:
