New films this week

I Saw The Devil (London Korean Film Festival)

144 mins, Certified by Westminster Council.

The Man From Nowhere (London Korean Film Festival)

119 mins, Certified by Westminster Council.

Really? Is this what this has come to..?

I think that's ok - as long as they don't start cutting/rejecting films that would otherwise have passed.

True, but I'm wondering why the need to publisize the fact they are poking their nose in?

Perhaps they are just trying to reassure people who may have been concerned about recent controversies eg Serbian Film that these titles at least have been passed as suitable for the public by them.

A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

They always ban it after THEY'VE seen it because they judge themselves so much more morally sound that anyone else.

Anybody noticed the exclusive screening at Prince Charles Cinema on Thursday 25th November?

This exclusive UK premiere screening will be followed by a Q&A with director and co-writer Srdjan Spasojevic and producer Nikola Pantelic.

A Serbian Film - PULLED from line-up

Postby daveroughcut » Mon Nov 22, 2010 8:58 am

Will the cut footage be featured in the making of DVD as was done with LAST HOUSE ON THE LEFT for years?

A SERBIAN FILM: Banned in Australia
December 04, 2010
Accent Film Entertainment has had Srdjan Spasojevic's A SERBIAN FILM banned by the Classification Board. The film has proven to one of the most controversial in years.

In the UK, it has already suffered over four minutes of cuts, and Australia will certainly not be the last country where it has problems.

Accent is certainly the right company to try to bring the film to Australia as they previously released IRREVERSIBLE and 9 SONGS. Their last run-in with the censors was in 2007, when they received an RC-rating for the documentary NO BODY IS PERFECT.

The OFLC should do what the BBFC do send the distributor a cuts list, better than a rejection at least.

I know im a bit late in the day abut this, but, being at FF last year, with all the Buzz about this film, and the fact it got pulled from the lineup, i searched for it as soon as i got home, and found the uncut version of it.

now, i have seen a lot of stuff over the yrs, even some snuff, but this diddnt even come close to what i expected, i have never seen a film that has left me mentally scarred untill this one, i hurt for about a week after this, couldnt get some of the things out my head,

The thing is though, the story is excellent, the story draws you in and keeps you hooked, and what they are trying to say with the film, i get it, i do, but did you really need to go that extreme to get the point across.

The thing is, this is a film that you need to either watch on your own, or with a couple of close friends, not in a cinema, as i know fully well i would have dragged my GF out of there the min the Baby Footage is shown, not a chance, and i have still to this day not let her see it, somethings are better off left alone, we have all seen enough horror movies to know that :)
