GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
Re: GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
Hey Malky,
Lots of fun to be expected - It was my first time last year and I enjoyed every minute of it! Everyone was really friendly and there was a great atmosphere ) The lineup is awesome and the regular Frightfesters will make you feel right at home.
Are you going alone or with anyone? Don't be scared to say hi to people, everyone is really friendly and no-one bites (that I know of).
It all kicks off at 7pm with the first film, but there will be lots of us already about so we might well meet up before hand - keep an eye on this forum as a lot of the meetups are arranged on here )
Then we pretty much remain in the cinema for the duration of the event (bar going out to stock up on food and drink), with no doubt some late night drinking antics after the last film (on Fri/ Sat night).
Seating is not allocated - so 1st come 1st served kinda thing, but it is generally accepted that once you've found a seat, you're ok to stay there for the rest of the weekend (but put a coat or something down) )
Hope that's given you a bit of a taster of what to expect )
K.

Thank you, I shall be attending with my flatmate we both have full passes. I shall keep a look out for future posts. I'm really excited by this. I've still to see the original 2001 maniacs but I'll try to catch that before the event.

Really, don't try and watch the first film... Your expectations for the second will just be so low...Malky wrote:Thank you, I shall be attending with my flatmate we both have full passes. Re: GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
Hi Malky,
It's not comparable to anything you will ever have experienced. It is a festival where you can actually get enjoyment out of the worst films. It gives you the chance to get up close and personal with directors and stars of the films. Friendly organisers and a ton of friendly fans, go up and say hello make your weekend all the better.
I'm from up here too but i started going down to daddy frightfest in London in August. It's awesome but anyway this should be a fantastic weekend, I cant wait.

Hey Malky,
Although I've been to quite a few of the London events this will be my first Glasgow Frightfest. Although having said that my first ever horror fest was Black Sunday in Glasgow back in 90 or 91 (I can't honestly remember). I had to cross a picket line of Bible thumpers to get into that. I'm sure the reception at the GFT will be friendlier
Looking forward to it immensely. Although I kinda miss the days of being heckled by the God squad.

I want to be heckled by the God squad , there is a church not 2 minutes from the GFT as well maybe I or Colin should in form them of the black magic and devils work that will no doubt take place.
Re: GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
I remember it nearly got quite nasty, there was a hopped up punk with a mohawk getting right in their face about thier commitment to turning the other cheek. Still once inside I remember seeing Brian Yuzna's Society for the first time. This is pre-(mass) internet days, imagine seeing that film with no preconceptions whatsoever? It blew my mind. Also treated to Argento's Inferno on the big screen, which was transcendant. Not all good though Glasgow City Council banned them from screening Necromantik so I've never had the experience of seeing that with an audiance.Malky wrote:I want to be heckled by the God squad , there is a church not 2 minutes from the GFT as well maybe I or Colin should in form them of the black magic and devils work that will no doubt take place.
Look forward to seeing you (and averyone else) weekend after next.

Re: GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
Ooo can we send an email to the pope and tell him that there'll be a convention for gay wannabe priests at the GFT that weekend or Abortionists of the future who will crack eggs at midday as sign of their dedication to 'baby murder'?
That'd get a god squad picket line going....
Sometime my mind delves to new depths of depravity

To be honest, I'm pretty sure they were Baptists, they had a guitar with them.Satans Puppy wrote:Ooo can we send an email to the pope and tell him that there'll be a convention for gay wannabe priests at the GFT that weekend or Abortionists of the future who will crack eggs at midday as sign of their dedication to 'baby murder'?

Or Hari Krishnas, they always have something to sing about

Nope, they were dressed "smart casual", lots of beige. Also no drums or finger bells.krispyg wrote:Or Hari Krishnas, they always have something to sing about

That was me too, lastminute.com and got flirted off to the back
At events where seating is not allocated I normally follow the plan to see where Mr Puppy is heading then run in the opposite direction. It has served me well so far...
If I remember correctly the GFT is pretty big anyway so you should be ok so long as you not part of a large group.

Oi Kirspy Shut It!!
I'm gonna go by an hour before maybe... Ian was nice enough to pick the regulars out of the crowd last time, so they had a chance to get down front but I don't wanna risk him not doing that this year
It was an awesome feeling to finally be accepted Bet he regrets it now

Re: GLASGOW FRIGHTFEST FEB 2010
I'm gonna go along 3 hours but i have got tickets to the q and a that's in the screen before. Yay, go me and forward planning. Also if that doesn't work can we get some priority seating for the reviewers? :P
