Let's not be too hasty- the film still hasn't been rated according to the BBFC website.

And, there is nothing else about it anywhere- so let's be optimistic.

I emailed Empire cinema and they confirmed the worst - its been withdrawn, due to the BBFC demanding 4 mins of cuts and there not being enough time to sort it. Supposedly there is a surprise film being show?

Damn, this was one of the films that made me want to go to the Frightfest in the first place!!!

:(

Have to say I wasn't sure I was looking forward to it, but it's always sad & annoying day when adults are told what they can and can't watch.

This is pathetic - the only horror film festival in the world where this could happen.

I have just found out that I Spit is also cut.

How can they show a cut movie?

I bought a ticket but I won't be going - it's £11 lost, but I refuse to go to watch a cut version of any horror movie.

The only event now worth seeing is Video Nasty event on Monday. I know this will be uncut in every way!!

Bah,

Exactly. I could understand if they wanted to make the cuts for a general release but this is for a HORROR film festival. People attending know exactly what to expect as it is for a well informed horror fan base and this was without a doubt one of the highlights of the festival for most of the festival goers. I'm still hoping it's all just hype before an official announcement come out on this site but if it is true why have the BBFC left it so late?

I feel bad for the lads who organised this after putting together a stellar line up.

Perhaps this country should adopt the American MPAA way. At least unrated/uncut films CAN be shown in a cinema or at a festival.

This kind of thing, in this day and age, is just embarrassing for the UK.

Although it must be said, this film has been advertised for a while as being shown at Frightfest, being a major drawing point, so why the festival organisers did not see this coming is beyond me. Three days before it being shown!! :?

Knew it would happen. Censors have just encouraged internet piracy. So what's in it's place.

You would expect, with a particularly controversial movie like this, that they would have submitted the film a bit earlier or made sure there were no legal complications before screening. I also don't get how they can show a cut version of I Spit on Your Grave quite happily, but not A Serbian Film. I know the cuts are more extensive in Serbian Movie but still...cut is cut.

BBFC decisions online sometimes appear weeks or often months after they have been made ...

it's strange that I spit on your grave can get around the ratings board in america by contacting cinemas who agree to showing the uncut version of the film.
clearly empire has agreed to show the films uncut, everyones bought tickets and accepts they will be uncut, then the BBFC steps in and tells us what we can and can't watch.
bellends.
I've had a screener on my desk for 2 weeks now but have been saving it to watch it with the crowd

This is a real shame but there are still plenty of other movies in the line-up to look forward too

:)
