ewww... this one one castrated movie. it's been few years since i saw the original, but i don't remember final act of I Spit On Your Grave being one dumb gory titillation. the set pieces of heroine's revenge wouldn't be out of place in a Saw franchise and that is my problem with the remake. either you aim to make serious rape and revenge movie (and first part of the movie seems to be having that in mind) or just halloween movie for mass audience.

i understand that evil doers get punished in the movie, so on the surface feminist-ish context seems to be intact. and the audience was very responsive to the fate of the rapists. but for me it just turned into farce. sad.

Glad to hear I wasn't the only one to have issues with this movie. I think Bedevilled dealt with similar material in a far deeper and more substantial way. I Spit just seemed to position the horror of it's first half so that the audience could cheer on the revenge of the second. I felt it was so nakedly trying to gain a response from me that I completely shut off to it. I don't think there was any serious intent to the film at all.

Pekinpah and Ferrara did this all so much better years before with Straw Dogs and Ms. 45

Watched the uncut I Spit remake. The BBFC shouldn't have cut the film also they seem to have invented some new reasons for cutting this eg camcorder use for a start. That's definitely a new one.

Was never a fan of the original, I thought the remake was no better or worse.

Right she goes off into the woods and eats wildlife to survive and then come back for revenege. She doesn't recuperate in the house like the original. It lost me there. Did enjoy the gun trap at the end though.

I was wondering that as well but I figure it was to show how low she'd sunk, even after the ordeal she had to survive because she knew they were looking for her... pew pew pew
