A slow burner examining the events leading up to the bloody vengeance in the second half of the film. I liked how it explored themes such as the abusive husband and the indifference of the other relatives as this added a bit of meat and realism to the story. However, it did seem to take a long, long time to build up, while it wasn't always very believable, which jarred a little with the "serious" portrayal of the abuse. I also thought that maybe the city girl didn't deserve to be the sole survivor. 7.5 / 10
