The 2011 FILM4 FrightFest All-Nighter - Cold Sweat

Post by iomega »

A cross between HOSTEL and THE WAGES OF FEAR. Argentina’s rising star director Adrian Garcia Bogliano brings you a unique chiller filled with gaucho gore and some pretty creative carnage. How did you hold up watching this at 3.30 am?

Tense, fast-moving and different, this was a refreshingly taut rollercoaster from Argentina. Not sure if the political element worked as well as it could have done, but the film was well made with plenty of social commentary. I really enjoyed this one. 8 / 10
No tears, please. It's a waste of good suffering.

Not bad, don't think it was much like Hostel, but was similar to Wages Of Fear, also with elements of The Loved Ones and People Under The Stairs in there.

A nice dark, twisted and occassionally amusing little film, having the whole film just set in the house really benefitted the film I think. The second best film of the night for me, after Livid.

Well made but ultimately I found this frustrating for obvious reasons.

I enjoyed the fast paced action, but I think the soundtrack didn't suit the movie, and I never truly understood why it was all happening in the first place and there was a couple of other major points which didn't make sense too.

An excellent choice. Thanks Paul. This really had pace, style and an original theme with a political sub-text from the director (using it perhaps as a calling card for Hollywood?). Looking forward to his next feature.

Now this was more like it.I loved the pacing of this movie.
I just wish i was more awake to really appreciate it more.
The director Adrián García Bogliano really did a great job here and i will definitely check out his other work.
I will definitely watch this one again.

My Rating 3.5/5

Not wildly impressed, sadly - I would have liked more explanation of what these guys actually wanted. Some nice moments.

I finally succumbed to the heat in this one and nodded off early on.

To make matters worse, every time I woke up I had no idea what was going on.... People exploding? An old bloke with a Zimmer frame? Feral women living in a basement? Another woman who appeared to be constantly soaking wet?

So in my confusion I kept nodding off again.

I was told afterwards it was actually not bad.

Good stuff, although the constant moist shuffling around started to feel a bit forced after a while. Picked up nicely once things started to explode.
