Fun pop-culture flick, but perhaps as shallow as the culture referenced. I liked the mash-up of genres, even if it sometimes felt like a random brain dump at times. 7 / 10

I left after 20 minutes - not because it was terrible but because I fell asleep. I shall probably catch it when it hits DVD. What I did see looked pretty incoherent but it wouldnt be fair to say anything until I've seen it.

Loved it, I thought the references and text were slapped across at hyperspeed which was a shame but I did truly like it. :) Can't wait to see it again, from the moment it began I knew I'd love it!

Not sure why this one was so well recieved. It's what happens when someone is rich enough to fund their own film and then shove in story lines for 3 - 4 films. He also needs to get someone to edit it for him. A 90 minunte music video is nothing to be proud of.

A unicorn shat a rainbow in my brain just at the time I started my bubble gum refrain but I've got to wait on the exorcist train to take me up to the top of the hill again.

Or in other words; bonkers.

Totally understand why folks felt it shouldn't have been shown as part of the festival, but personally I loved it. Really loved it. It was Breakfast Club meets Hot Tub Time Machine meets Clarissa Explains It All. 10/10.

I thought Detention was awesome. I admit it lives on the outskirts of the horror genre and stands up better alongside stuff like Scott Pilgrim or Hot Tub Time Machine, but for me it was the surprise joy of the fest. It was refreshing not to recognise any of the actors and fun trying to keep up with the detail of the script and production design. Considering the kitchen sink approach and ambitiously bonkers time travel theme, it plays out all the characters and ideas with playfull flair, and compared with other high school slasher films that it resembled at the outset, it actually ties it all up pretty well by the end.

I can understand people saying its not proper horror, or unlike anything anybody could have expected, but I'm surprised so many people hated it- I had a great time watching it.

Should have gone for a pint instead of watching this annoying turd of a film.
