6/10 - jonbly couldn't really connect with this one - committed the cardinal sin of making the 'heroes' sufficiently unsympathetic that jonbly didn't really care who lived or died.

Not bad but too much shouting and over acting! The guy from Emerdale was class though.

Duke I totally agree. Utter, utter shite. Totally pointless, not funny and quite offensive for no good reason. It was a bit like watching 13 year olds putting on their own version of the League of Gentlemen.
Plus the 500 cast and crew members in the audience whooping at every name and nearly dying with laughter at every lame joke did not endear it to me any more.

Agree, the humour seemed to be trying to copy League Of Gentlemen, and not only that, the ringmaster's make up was a complete copy off Papa Lazarou.

I won't be too hard on Alex Chadon, as I absolutely love Cradle Of Fear, however that came out 10 years ago, and comparing Inbred to Cradle Of Fear, he seems to have gone downhill in terms of production values, quality of storylines, quality of acting, imagnation....and well, everything really. There were a few amusing moments (the yokels betting on how far the escaping woman would get, etc), but for the most part, this was a tedious, painful and rather distasteful trip into the world of bad zero-budget movies. If Rob Zombie had a budget of a tenner to make House Of 1000 Corpses, it would have turned out something like this.

And yes the "Inbred fan club" at the back of the cinema got rather annoying.

Even disregarding the fact that this was a film of almost incomparably low quality, showcasing exactly what British indie horror should be moving past, you have to wonder how a film that was barely finished a few days prior to the festival, with seemingly untested audio mix problems, be shown as the penultimate film on the closing day. A bit of a blemish on an otherwise fantastic festival this year.

It was more competent than I expected (once we got past the opening bit with Emily Booth) and I think it sort of worked in the sense that it was quite disturbing and horrible (like an idiot Channel 5 version of Calvaire).

The humour didn't work for me though - maybe if the kids had spent less time screaming and yelling "fuck" at each other it would've improved the horror/comedy balance.

Ultimately, I just didn't like it much.

I was thinking that my one sentence review would be enough, but this piece of shit film has provoked feelings of anger and resentment in me.

I've seen bad films before. I've felt like I've wasted my time and my money, but I've never been angry after a film before like I was after this piece of shit.

It could well be that 2 of mates loved this piece of shit, as did seemingly some/most of the audience there.

It could be, as has been mentioned, the adoring bunch of sycophants brought along to act as human applause signs for this piece of shit film.

It could be the volume of the thing, which was ear-splittingly loud (I like loud, if it is a good loud) and seemingly designed to beat you into submission by nulling one of your senses so you become a less rational human being and actually liked this piece of shit.

It could be that the acting was merely screaming for most of this piece of shit film and that I didn't like any of the characters at all, whether I was 'supposed' to or not (well, except the ferret).

It could be that in this piece of shit film there was not one single new idea, not one single original death, not one single funny moment and not one single bit of tension or scare.

It was just pure, simple fecal matter. A gorilla's finger disguised of 500 feet of celluloid. Something a beetle would roll up to lay it's eggs in. A explosing of excrement, a discharge of brown water. A defecation on the souls of all that is good and scary. Types 1, 2, 3, 4, 5, 6 and 7 on the Bristol Stool Scale. Crap. Turd.

Shit.

You know, as much as this was my least favourite film, and I agree with the comments on the actual film, I don't think it's fair to refer to the cast and their friends as sycophants. This was their premier, and they were clearly enjoying themselves much like the audience in the film.

We could have got revenge on their whooping and cheering by heckling the film, eg shouting "You're my wife now" when that landlord put on his make up. But we're ALL much too well behaved for that.

More importantly, what's best? This or Zombie Women of Satan?

TheDukeAbides calls it has he sees it.

And to be honest, in many of the Q&A's some people were apologising for some of their previous works shown at Frightfest and in general.

Hopefully everyone associated with this piece of shit will do the same in years to come.

It was more incompetent but a lot more amusing.

Wow, reading the reviews I'm so glad I skipped this one and saw the excellent "My Sucky Teen Romance" in the Discovery screen!

It was just 2001 maniacs no? It certainly doesn't deserve some of the labels being bandied around on this forum. I thought up to and including the "train" scenes it was poor but picked up once they started getting bumped off. Liked the fx. To compare it to something as utterly tedious as ZWOS is ridiculous.
