Top 3 films people are mostly/least looking forward too

Post by bump3r1 »

Not much happening on the forums to get u excitied at the moment so I thought i'd try and get a discussion going about the films, not that my excitement can peak any higher to be honest.

My top anticipated 3 movies are:-
V/H/S
The Possession
The Seasoning House

Expectations on the floor for:-
Outpost 2
Hidden in the Woods
Cockneys vs Zombies.
You think darkness is your ally but you have merely adopted the dark, i was born in it!!

Most:

V/H/S
Maniac
Stitches

Least:
Tulpa (because I'm not a giallo fan)
Dead Sushi (think it will be too silly for its own good)
Paura 3D (description just doesn't grab me)

Although the hype surrounding the first one might kill it. One of my writers has already seen it and she wasn't too impressed, but then she's not a huge fan of found footage.

I think Cockneys Vs Zombies could turn out to be a pleasant surprise. The footage shown last year was received well and I don't think people are expecting it to be anything more than a bit of fun.

I'm prepared and open to being blown away by anything on the schedule though!

Aw, I'm feeling sorry for CvZ already! However that would be on my top 3 must see of the festival though, so there is some love back at that.

Also as for VHS, although I have (intentionally) tried to ignore as much as possible about the majority of films at the festival this year and therefore know very little about it I can't say I'm excited for VHS - this purely based on the fact that I have never seen an anthology / shorts collection film that was actually any good, they have all been excruciatingly painful to sit through. (Well, possibly Trick 'r Treat was not bad, but that was more of a coherent whole than an actual anthology). I will stay and watch it though as the buzz is pretty strong with this one, but really, are there any good anthology films?

Guess the hype could ruin the experience of V/H/S, i'm eager to see Ti West segment tho (apart from Cabin Fever 2) he hasn't put a foot wrong as far as im concerned (someone give him a tidy budget to work with).

I'm not writing CvZ off just yet, its got Brick Top in after all but based on previous similar movies shown in recent years (Dead Cert for example) I just can't help but expect the worse.

I'm going to try and get tickets for we are the night when the Thompsons is on, hated the Hamiltons and OMG what a joke their second film was the Violent Kind.

I'm considering the yorkshire zombie romp with the guy from Emmerdale in after watching the special on film 4 lastnight, looks ok.

And the best Anthology film ever - Snoop Doggs Hood of Horror (there's a joke in their somewhere)

I stand by my previous statement. I hated creepshow. It's just a collection of ideas none of which were good enough to be made into a single film so they just stuck them all together. But then I really don't enjoy the majority of Stephen King stuff anyway.

I know, I'm a heretic.

Top3

1. After
2. Grabbers
3. Rec3

I'm a sucker for a monster and loved Rec1

Bottom 3

1. Chained - just reading the synopsis made me feel sleepy.
2. Thompsons - wasn't keen on hamiltons or violent kind.
3. Dead sushi - after Tokyo Gore Police, Aliens v Ninjas and Vampire Girl vs Frankenstein Girl, i am officially done with these films... 1 or 2 laughs and 88 minutes of tomato ketchup and rubber joke shop arms.

Sacrilege, Sir!!

What about the Amicus classics?
"Tales from the Crypt", "Dr Terror's House of Horror", etc

Not to mention one-offs like Ealing's "Dead of Night", and Karen Black's "Trilogy of Terror"?

Although I will admit, I can't think of any good ones from the 80's onwards. Weird, isn't it? :?:

Burn him! :D

Each to their own. I actually enjoy the bitesize horror nuggets in an anthology piece, sometimes they can be better than whole movies.

Does Two Evil Eyes count as an anthology?

To be honest I don't know. I picked up the DVD recently but haven't gotten around to watching it. Probably should do so before FF as I should watch more Argento before meeting the old chap.

Most looking forward to:

Eurocrime (although I am not convinced it belongs at a Horror festival)
Night of Nightmares (Another new film from Buddy G. Hooray)

Stuff I am not looking forward to (I already saw them):

Guinea Pigs (good idea, badly executed but worth a watch)
Nightmare Factory (I found this a bit dull)
Inbred (dire)
The Arrival of Wang (really interesting idea, well executed)
Crawl (one of the standouts at Glasgows event)
Grabbers (enjoyable if lightweight monster comedy)
V/H/S (some really good segments, but ultimately I didn"t connect with it)
Rec3 (really enjoyed this back in February)
Sleep Tight (my favourite film of the year so far)

But I am most excited about the opportunity to see Sightseers next Wednesday in Hamburg (and V/H/S if I am feeling energetic enough).

BERBERIAN SOUND STUDIO, TULPA, EUROCRIME, ERRORS OF THE HUMAN BODY.

But really, the whole thing.

top 3 probably:

1. Sinister
2. The Possession
3. Hidden In The Woods

and most of the others.

not bothered about:

1. Dead Sushi (after watching the trailer, I will be amazed if this is anything other than absolutely atrocious, I won't be watching it anyway)
2. The Thompsons (The Hamiltons is one of the worst first I've ever seen, the thought of a sequel to it is hardly inspiring)
3. Cockneys Vs Zombies (sorry, it don't look great!)

Also I was initially looking forward to Rec3, but I've heard a few bad things about it. Not too sure and Berbarian Sound Studio and Stitches, but who knows I might be surprised.

Of those I've not seen (of which I won't mention, except to say I'd really recommend not missing the opening Monday film on the main screen), I've got loads I'm looking forward to, a few of which are;

Berberian Sound Studio
The Seasoning House
Sleep Tight
Chained
Nightbreed: The Cabal Cut
The Bride of Frankenstein (restored)
Sinister
The Possession
Short Film Showcase
It's horrible... I love it... What is it?
