Your FrightFest 2012 iCal/Google Calendar Timetable

Post by IsaacBD » Thu Aug 16, 2012 1:02 pm

Hello, fellow FrightFesters.

As it was such a massive help to me last year, and as I am a student with a lot of time on my hands, I thought I'd take one for the team and write up the digital version of the FrightFest timetable/guide. It took quite a few more hours than I'd expected (probably due to the extra screen this year) and so, as the night drew on, I grew ever more inaccurate. This morning, I went over it and corrected every mistake I could find, but if you notice any more, do let me know and I'll update the original.

Just in case you're not sure how to use it, I'll provide a quick guide:

1. Click https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15815271/FrightFest%202012.ics to download the .ics file

2. If you use iCal, go to 2.1 - If you use Google Calendar, 2.2 - If you use Windows Calendar, 2.3

  • 2.1Having downloaded the .ics file, simply open it and iCal will pop up. I recommend choosing the destination as a new calendar entirely so that you can choose between looking at just FrightFest things during the festival period and your usual appointments. There're so many separate events for FrightFest that your calendar screen will likely become cluttered unless you do this.
  • 2.2 Login to your Google Calendar, then click the 'Add' link on the bottom left column. Select 'Import Calendar' and navigate to FrightFest2012.ics, which'll likely be in your Downloads folder unless you've moved it
  • 2.3Go to your calendar, sign in if necessary. Select Import from an ICS file, and then click Browse.Navigate to the FrightFest2012.ics file (probably in your downloads), click Open and then Import Into a New Calendar[/color]

I can't tell you how to get the calendar on your phone, but I'm sure you already know how to do that if you're the kind of person who wants to make use of a digital timetable. If you haven't tried it before, I recommend it! It's nice to have everything in one place.

Finally, here's the link once more: https://dl.dropbox.com/u/15815271/FrightFest%202012.ics

Thanks, and see you at FrightFest.

Isaac

Glad it's of some use :) I would've been seriously out-of-sorts without the one someone made last year, so thought this would be a good way of paying it forward.

Oh, naturally. Mid-film phone-usage is a cardinal sin and must be punished swiftly and with no remorse.

Thanks so much for this, works a treat on the iPhone! Has made it very easy to flag up main screen films I'm opting out of and Dicovery ones I need to get tickets for.

Cheers!
