8/10 - enjoyed this one. There are a few holes (like what happens to all the cute l'il grabbers in the bar?). But it's not really the kind of movie that worries about that kind of thing...

Entertaining movie.
I liked the eccentric English scientist. I hope he survived the attack.
What happened to the children in the village? Were they left as bait? I thought this was a hole in the plot.

Aha, you have rumbled the plot line for Grabbers 2.

Liked this, made with lots of love, aliens looked good.

Ireland do make some good horror, this, Isolation and Dorothy spring to mind offset by the atrociously bad Red Mist

A large number of kids are seen boarding the ferry at the start (as the Garda gets off).

Loved this to bits!!

The quality of the effects on the main creature was staggering and put many of the american films to shame
*cough*underthebed*cough*.
I thought the drunken-blood angle wasn't really used enough though.

The mega-gorgeous Ruth Bradley didn't harm things either :)

This Irish creature feature yarn had plenty of charm, humour and likeable characters, although I struggled to understand some of the accents at times. I thought the main beast was a little inconsistent in its aggression too, but overall this was a pretty decent finale to opening night. 7 / 10

Rather run of the mill tbh and I thought the whole drunken cop stuff got very old, very quick.

Lead actress was very nice to look at though.

I suppose part of the problem is that we all to some extent compare films to the first one in that genre that we really liked, for me that would be tremors.

As the last film of the first day, have a seen a whole lot worse.

Best film of Day 1 by some distance. A fun old fashioned Tremors style monster movie with good story and surprisingly good CGI 8 / 10

I'd compare this to Troll Hunter.

Low budget, but made for the love of it, well written, well acted, nice FX, nothing forced, even pacing and a good story to tell.

A definate buy when it comes out.

Thought it was enjoyable late night film. Quite liked the monster and also the fact that you needed to be drunk to survive.

Grabbers was another fun film which i enjoyed immensely.
The tentacled alien was well done too.
Great special effects all round and some good performances from the cast.

Another DVD purchase from me

One of my favourites and it's a shame that it's only getting a cursory cinema release before being shunted off onto DVD. It's terrific fun AND (unlike Cockneys vs Zombies) you do care about the characters. Effects are first rate as well.
