FrightFest

As Fright Fest hits London with blood, guts and a myriad of other bodily fluids both human and mythical, swarms of horror-lovers will gather together for a marathon of twisted, deathly voyeurism. Their idea of a perfect night out could entail showers of blood, head spinning devil children, innocent nannies diving to their death or self-inflicted amputation. It can only be natural to assume, therefore, that this sub-section of society are at best sado-masochists waiting to happen, and at worst blood-hungry psychopaths stashing away ideas for gory world domination, alongside their machete and Dummies Guide to Satanism (and possibly a framed photo of Jeremy Kyle).

I know it's the Huffington Post, and it's tongue-in-cheek, but this is exactly the sort of poorly researched literary cobblers that gives us all a bad name and belittles our opinions.

Three reasons to laugh at it though ...

1) Reading it, it's apparent that she's only ever seen 3 "horror" films. (The Exorcist, The 6th Sense, and possibly The Omen), and she didn't even sit through those! The rest of her impression of horror films, is from her own warped imagination.
2) She uses a completely out-of-context quote from Stephen Kings "Danse Macabre", which is a book devoted to celebrating horror and she uses ONE line to slag off fans. Did she read the rest of it?
3) Best of all, this was posted 3 days ago. Nobody has commented. She's got ONE "like". And the celebrity support she's trying to drum up appears to be non-existent.

Quick everybody! Let's point and laugh at her!!

Well, probably not (sounds like she hasn't sat through anything) ... but this was the quote I based that observation on;

Sixth Sense should not be shown to delicate children, and I was off the richter scale for delicacy- a gun-hating, flower-loving, hug-giving hippy before I even knew what they were, or that I might have to be a bit smelly to fully be inaugurated in their gang. Have a hug, not a horror is my campaign poster.

Also, she doesn't directly mention The Omen, she talks about nannies "diving to their death", but it's the only horror film that I could think of that contains that sort of image ... unless it's "Mary Poppins"!

I've been into horror since i was 9 or 10 years old.Alright they were only Hammer and the Universal classic monster movies but that was the best place to start.
I am now 46 and i certainly don't have sadomasochistic tendencies.

Long live the horror film i say.

Also as I have pointed out to anyone who will listen, I went to FrightFest the 13th and I got a lot of hugs actually.

Having spent a couple of days at FF13 and experiencing nothing but awesome, friendly people, I walked back to my car on the Friday night and started to make my way home. I'd only been in the car a couple of minutes when I had to stop on Shaftesbury Avenue because four chavs were kicking shit out of each other (including one girl who was being pulled across the road by her hair).

Gave me a wry smile.

It was also nicely soundtracked by 'Battery' by Metallica \m/

This article is so poorly written that its not worth dignifying it with a response.
