This time I will I make an effort to say hello to people too.
At least if I did make an entrance on a plastic cow people would know which one I am.

In reality I am always in vintage dresses and always looking sarcastic.

Nah I don't shout. That's just ridiculous. I'd use a mega phone and a bell to get attention. I'm going to prop a deck chair up in the audience and a sandpit for my feet and watch films that way. With sunglasses, a cocktail and a swimsuit. That way it's like a holiday.
Make sure non of you crush my sandcastles on the way to your seats.

This is what I love with FF - there is always people around you who are gonna become your new friends

This year the Manchester contingent are sticking together - so be warned!

I went on my own for the first 3 years and I love the diverse crowd that the festival attracts.

I used to worry I'd interrupt in conversations but everyone there is there for the movies and loves to chat about them.

On my 4th year I couldn't go last minute and ended up giving my ticket to my retired dad who was like "I might go for one movie" . He ended up staying for the whole festival

And now we both go to every one we can make and just love chatting to the people around us in our seats and its great to socialise with the same faces each year (you know who you are ;0) )

Roll on August!

jamesmcrosby wrote:This year will be my second year at FrightFest, and I will be going alone for the second year. Last year was fantastic, but I spent most of the time sitting/standing back and observing rather than really mucking in. This year I'd like to hopefully reach out and make acquaintances with more folks, so I'm just wondering what advice people have. Everyone seemed very friendly who I did speak to, but I don't want to be that annoying guy who butt's into groups/conversations and won't go away. I know there are a few pubs and bars people meet before and after films, but I didn't really know where I was going last year. Where are the best places to go at what times? Any other people going alone this year?
Wow I commend your bravery, I wouldn't be able to go on my own. Im going with my son who is 18 now so Im bringing him this year as promised many moons ago and my boyfriend. We hopefully will be right at the back on the right hand side in the aisle so feel free to say hi. When people tell you to chat to the peeps next to you, its good advice, but how do you get the convo going and how do you know they will be friendly. Don't get me wrong Im sure most FFesters are, but its a bit nerve racking. I never see many people mingling in the foyer with strangers as everyone is too busy lining up for the loos or getting bad cinema food. I hope I get to chat to people this year as that is a nice part of the experience.
