Your FrightFest 2013 iCal/Google, iPhone/Android Timetable!

Post by IsaacBD »

Hello again, FrightFesters.

As is now my FrightFest tradition, and as I'm still a student with a lot of time on my hands, I thought I'd once again take one for the team and write up the full calendar version of the FrightFest timetable/guide. It is natively compatible with iCal and iDevices, but works also in Google Calendar (and Android devices), Windows Calendar and, most likely, any other calendar program you can think of. As ever, please alert me to any mistakes and I'll rectify them in the original!

Just in case you're not sure how to use it, I'll provide a quick guide:

1. Click https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/158 ... 202013.ics to download the .ics file

2. If you use iCal on your laptop or iDevice, go to 2.1 - If you use Google Calendar on your Android tablet, phone or laptop, 2.2 - If you use Windows Calendar, 2.3

  • 2.1 Having downloaded the .ics file, simply open it and iCal will pop up. I recommend choosing the destination as a new calendar entirely so that you can choose between looking at just FrightFest things during the festival period and your usual appointments. There're so many separate events for FrightFest that your calendar screen will likely become cluttered unless you do this.
  • 2.2 Login to your Google Calendar, then click the 'Down Arrow beside 'Other Calendars'' in the left column. Select 'Import Calendar' and navigate to FrightFest2013.ics, which'll likely be in your Downloads folder unless you've moved it manually.
  • 2.3 Go to your calendar, sign in if necessary. Select Import from an ICS file, and then click Browse.Navigate to the FrightFest2013.ics file (probably in your downloads), click Open and then Import Into a New Calendar[/color]

I can't tell you how to get the calendar on your phone, but I'm sure you already know how to do that if you're the kind of person who wants to make use of a digital timetable. If you haven't tried it before, I recommend it! It's nice to have everything in one place.

Finally, here's the link once more: https://dl.dropboxusercontent.com/u/158 ... 202013.ics

Thanks, and see you there!

Thanks Isaac, this is handy.

One thing...

the import function in Google Calendars is accessed by clicking the down arrow beside "Other Calendars" in the left column and selecting "Import Calendar". The instructions threw me a bit because there was no "Add" link immediately obvious.

Thanks for letting me know :) I'm currently on a train from Liverpool so couldn't (be bothered to) check if the instructions had changed from last year's. Will update the original post!
