Exists, The Den, Open Windows, Digging Up The Marrow, The Expedition, & Xmoor all use found footage to some extent. And of the couple I've seen are VERY good.

Damn. V/H/S must've been a killer for you. It made me feel a bit dizzy.

Thank you also Scoutthehorizon - very useful to know.

I have to admit I avoided VHS 2 last year because of this. Often the found footage films are good, but sadly they're not for me. A few years back the first film I saw was found footage and it took me nearly all day to recover! :( (shame they don't have a Mr White Face as that was me  )

Regarding the line up I will be watching this year it looks to be a pretty darn solid selection. Personally I love the Discovery screens as they have an interesting mix of old and new :D

Just realised: The Last Showing (Robert Englund) Main Screen, Friday 22nd August is also released in cinemas the same day and gets its DVD/Blu/VOD release on the Monday (25th)!

That's a very quick hop between premiere and release.

Most esteemed fellow Fright-festers, could I please trouble you for some advice and/or recommendations? :?:
There's a few annoying clashes in my pre-planned viewing schedule, but by far my most hair-tearing decision is that for the last film on Friday night (22nd).
I'm in screen 7 (Horror channel) and all of the late-night films are ones that I was most desperate to see at the fest!! (*shakes fist at Ian, Greg, Paul, and Alan*).

Namely "Wolfcop" / "Dead Snow 2" / "The Drownsman"
I'm erring towards "Wolfcop", just for the fact that it seems like the perfect Friday Midnight film. But a recommendation from trusted sources would swing it towards either of the other two.
There's no region 2 releases imminent as far as I can see, but I would imagine (if I stopped being lazy) that "Dead Snow 2" is easy enough to get or stream.
Anybody got any views? Would be much appreciated.
Cheers peeps.

I haven't checked out The Drownsman yet, but from my own perspective I'd go for Dead Snow 2 over Wolfcop. I've got a feeling Wolfcop is going to be a novelty that works off its premise more than genuinely entertaining filmmaking.

I'll be glad to be wrong though!

Does that mean that is someone goes to a showing of it somewhere that is earlier than 6pm (or whatever time its on first) its not actually the premiere at all?

Possibly, although the fact it's going from cinema to home entertainment in 3 days might suggest its theatrical run is severely limited.

I'd guess that it's only going to be shown on the one evening. Perhaps FrightFest will in fact be the sole showing anywaySeems to be more.common. Ie themakes of Iron Sky were unhappy when their UK distro agreed to a cinematic release and then only had one day (and may have been one cinema only as well).

It would be a pity to miss the "resounding genre hit of Cannes" and "terrific crowd-pleaser" - in fact, it was surprise not to see it in the original line-up - but maybe it's another one TIFF have nabbed as an exclusive
