MAIN SCREEN / DISCO CLASH HELP

Post by scoutthehorizon »

I thought I'd also jam this thread up so we can all hash out our discovery / main screen clashes and maybe lend some help to each other where we can as I know I've seen a couple of movies and I'm others have to. So, shoot?

I'm struggling between Digging up The Marrow or Life After Beth as well as Nekromantik or Faults. For the former my decision will probably be swayed when the guests are announced. As for the latter I don't know what to do.

I would *not* like to make the choice between DIGGING UP THE MARROW & LIFE AFTER BETH. Two polar opposite films: 1 apparently pretty scary & avante garde, the other a quirky rom com. Good luck, matey. If it sways it LIFE AFTER BETH is more likely to get release sooner.

As for the other: FAULTS. See it. Nekromantik (bit biased, since I'm not a fan) will be released fairly soon from Arrow.

I'll second that. Nekromantik is passable, but works mainly on the shock value. Plus, as above, out on DVD and Blu shortly from Arrow.

Babadook seems very anticipated, so I'd go for that one.

My dilemmas:

The Harvest or Bad Milo?
Last Showing or The Canal?

Depends on your outlook; R100 is a completely bonkers Japanese film with a non-traditional narrative, desaturated to the point of almost being in black and white. I wouldn't call it horror in the slightest, although it fits snugly into the 'fantastic films' remit of the festival. Preservation is a fairly straightforward backwoods survival horror.

I like the simple things in life, so Preservation wins this round. :)

Quick question. I've got a festival pass for Screen 7 which means that The Babadook is up against Digging Up the Marrow. This sucks greatly. Would I be able to buy a separate ticket to see The Babadook in another screen after Digging Up the Marrow? Can't remember whether it's 5 or 6 but yeah.

The Babadook is playing Screen 5 (film4) at 18:15 and Screen 6 at 23:00

you could either buy a ticket for those showings.

or ask around someone may be going to see The Mirror, Creep or Duke Film Party. Use their seat??

toying with the idea of watching nekromantik over faults now that jorg is attending. Anyone know anything about faults/is it any good?

also, may go for nightmare over open windows and the latter seems like it could be a bit of a mess from the trailer. not sure on that one though either.

any help welcomed. thanks.
